| Assuming these articles are accurate our defense will look significantly different next year.

| That's a lot of numbers in those articles, which I don't do. I need the Salary Cap For Dummies version. One thing I did notice though is that they were written before Troy signed his deal. So the franchise-tag equation has changed. Wallace? What sucks is that as we're worrying about re-signing Wallace, a year later we need to worry about Brown and Sanders. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. | I looked at both articles and I'm not a cap guy either but here is a likely route we'll take. As far as cuts and their cap hit: McFadden: 2.6 mil Suishum: 1.6 Battle: 1.3 Randel EL: 300,000 Foote: 3.6 That's over 7 mil right there and I think Hines will resign under the league min which I don't know what that would be for a player in his 37th year but he'll sign cheap. He's projecting the cap at around 135 mil with us around 129 mil. I don't think we're in dire straits here but like I said I'm not good figuring the cap. Hell most days any number over 10 I have to run for the calculator or take a shoe off. | |

Not sure what we can do with Foote, Battle, or Suisham. I'm not too keen on Suisham as kicker, he makes me nervous and I'm definitely not comfortable with him being our full time kicker. I'd like to see the Steelers draft a new kicker this draft. As for McFadden, I'm not high on him either, but he's proved his value from time to time, but mostly he's proven that he can get a P.I. call better than anyone. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

Also that number only accounts for 36 players and no 2012 draft class. My bet is that we'll lose Farrior, Foote, Hoke, Smith, Mcfadden, Battle, Allen, Ward,Scott, and Kemo at the least.

| here is something that might help
final season, base salary, and cap charge.
http://www.steelersdepot.com/2011/02/steelers-2011-salary-cap-total-current-roster/
there are 19 players in the final season of their contract. there are 14 players that 2012 will be their final year of their contract. that is 33 players and a lot of millions of dollars the Steelers front office can shred from the team's salary cap.
the 2013 Steelers team will have (might have) a lot of new players. one thing I know this is going to be a different team in the next couple of years.
will be interesting watching what the front office does and what kind of changes they make in the next 3 years'
one thing I know the Steelers are going to get young fast. _________________ When the truth gets buried deep Beneath the thousand years asleep Time demands a turnaround And once again the truth is found
