Hines Ward recovering from ankle surgery
Posted by Evan Silva on February 4, 2012, 1:43 PM EST

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is recovering from surgery to repair bone fragments in his ankle.

It’s the latest bit of confirmation that Ward intends to play football in 2012. He may have passed on the procedure if his career were over.

As to whether he’ll return to Pittsburgh, Ward has publicly put the ball in the Steelers’ court. He met face-to-face with coach Mike Tomlin and owner Art Rooney this week.

Seems like this would have been reported as an injury. What do the rules say about the 4th or 5th receiver? You're right though it could have kept him on the sideline more than just all the other talent. The fact that Tomlin made sure he got his 1000th catch tells us he still has a lot of respect for Hines. Hines Ward recovering from ankle surgery 1647293567

i was wondering if he was hiding an injury all season. yeah we all know he's getting older, but age rarely affects someone this drastically over 1 year. something was definitely up

Welcome.

Yeah, Ward seemed a lot slower this year, when last year there wasn't much of a drop off at all. It had to have been the ankle.
