| Hello all. Steeler fan from Las Vegas, NV. How did I become a Steeler fan? I grew up in Montana where the only professional sport is rodeo. Back around 1967 or so I became a huge Pittsburgh Pirates fan when Roberto Clemente and company were there. I loved that team. I became interested in football about 1969. Since I was already a huge Pirates fan, I gravitated toward the Steelers. I thought their rough and tumble style was great. They didn't win much but the other team knew they had been in a fight when the game was over. It just so happens that the Chuck Noll era started and he had those fantastic drafts. The rest is history. I loved the 4 Super Bowl wins mostly from afar because I was overseas in the military. We didn't have American TV on base so I had to listen to the first two Super Bowls on the AFN Radio.
I have been a diehard Steeler fan all the way through the 80s and 90s and the puky QBs like Cliff Stoudt, Mark Malone, Bubby Brister, the Kordell Stewart experiment, etc. We had a couple of decent QBs in ODonnell and Maddox, but thank God Big Ben came along. At least it isn't embarrassing being a Steelers fan these days. (unless you count that travesty of a game in the playoffs last year when half the team was hurt)
I guess I have talked long enough. Here's to a great season with the 2012 version of the Steelers. May all of the experts choke on their pick of the Steelers coming in third place.
