SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for October 23, 2014

The Steelers will practice today from 1-3pm Eastern.

-The Steelers will wear their ‘bumblebee throwbacks’ on Sunday.

-With just one catch on Sunday, Heath Miller was a bit lost in the passing attack but I have a feeling he will get five receptions or more this Sunday against the Colts. Look for Indy to focus on Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown which could open things up for Miller.

-William Gay continued his streak of consecutive games played by a cornerback to 119.

-The Steelers lead the all-time series with the Colts 14-6. They are 9-2 all-time against the Colts at home in Pittsburgh.

-Last time the Steelers and Colts played was in Indianapolis in week three of 2011. The Steelers beat the “two-headed QB monster” of Kerry Collins and Curtis Painter when Shaun Suisham kicked a 38-yard field goal with just four seconds remaining. It was Ben Roethlisberger’s 24th game-winning drive of his career.

-If anyone knows how to plan for Cam Thomas (not that anyone needs to plan for Cam Thomas) it’s Colts’ Head Coach Chuck Pagano. He was Thomas’ defensive coordinator at North Carolina.

As much as I hate the bumblebee uniforms, I'm actually glad they'll be wearing them Sunday. It sounds silly, but sometimes an insignificant change can work wonders on mental preparation.

Along with that change, they will have the change of playing at 4:30 vs. their normal 1 pm slot. I can't remember the last time they played at 4:30 and I'm too lazy to look it up

The last time they played a 4:30 game was last season vs. the Packers. They had four 4:30 games last year.

On a related note, we actually have more 1:00 games this year than we've had since 2010. After Super Bowl XL, we played a lot of later games. In 2008, we had only four 1:00 games.

Wow, I didn't realize we had so many 4:30 games last year.

Correct me if I'm wrong but our schedule has been pretty weird this year in the fact that we've played in every single slot so far (TNF, 1 pm Sunday, 4:30 pm Sunday, SNF, MNF).
