At least he didn't deface the car. It's actually an incorporated part of the custom paint job.

I'm just going to assume s. Golstons injury will linger all year and we won't see jack shit from him this season. Now that THATs behind us, maybe we can see some of the other rookies contribute.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin Opening Statement: It was a good start today. No real injuries to speak of, just general good hustle and enthusiasm. Obviously we’re not perfect. We’re not going to be. It’s a good base to begin. We’ll continue to do similar things in terms of how we structure our work and compete. We do it hard and in a professional manner. That’s what we’re seeking. We have a lot of young guys out there. We’re challenging and evaluating them, but we’re teaching them at the same time. I thought they did a good job of receiving the message and instruction.

Steelers report
Saturday, July 25, 2015
The Steelers reported for camp today with five players heading to the PUP list.
They would be center Maurkice Pouncey (foot), linebacker Shawn Lemons (Achilles' tendon strain), offensive tackle Mike Adams (back), cornerback Senquez Golson (shoulder) and quarterback Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder).
Adams, who had back surgery July 20, would seem to be the most serious. And it leaves the Steelers painfully thin at the offensive tackle position for the time being.
But the injury to Gradkowski also is troubling. He was shut down during minicamp because of "shoulder fatigue." If that's still bothering him, that's not a good thing for, you know, a guy who throws the ball for a living.
The injury to Golson, the team's second-round draft pick, doesn't appear to be serious, but any time the rookie misses at training camp will set him back.
The biggest loser of the group could be Lemons, the former CFL star who was already a longshot to make the roster.
* The team announced Saturday that general manager Kevin Colbert has been signed to a two-year contract extension that will run through 2018.
Like Tomlin's extension, that will keep him here to help with the process of finding an eventual replacement for Ben Roethlisberger.
* Not a ton of news coming out of the player meet and greets today, but Cam Heyward did say his wife is due to have a baby sometime in November.
When asked if he might miss a game because of that, Heyward joked that he'd tell her to hold it in if she went into labor on a game day.
* With Adams down for the time being, Alejandro Villanueva should get plenty of reps at left tackle.

I love the arrival pictures. The excitement begins, no one is injured, nothing but potential.
That picture makes Latrobe look like Hawaii.

Steelers crafting direction for new-look defense in training camp
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been vague on what changes will surface with the retooled defense led by first-year coordinator Keith Butler. Coach Mike Tomlin might not even know. He's trusting that his new guy, who's waited more than a decade to become a coordinator, will have this defense ready. Plus, the Steelers haven't been in pads, with no hitting, so by the end of the week the picture will be clearer.
But, for now, let's highlight a few things I think the Steelers are trying to do with a defense that's without Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor for the first time in more than a decade. These are based on observations and conversations with players.
Team speed should improve but needs to show up more: Linebacker Ryan Shazier, who's one of the defense's most athletic players, sees enough overall speed on the defense, especially at linebacker, to gang tackle well and defend passes.
"Our speed is tremendous and it will really show," Shazier said.
The Steelers showed this early on the first day of camp with back-to-back interceptions of Landry Jones. But that was Landry Jones. The first-team offense got what it wanted for much of the 11-on-11 work, though that's expected. The offense is one of the league's best. Covering Antonio Brown isn't good for Cortez Allen's confidence. Many times, the Steelers leave too many passing lanes open in the intermediate game. The Steelers want to force Ben Roethlisberger into a difficult throw, not an obvious one.
The speed of Shazier and first-round linebacker Bud Dupree is noticeable in live action. Once corner Senquez Golson returns from a shoulder injury, the Steelers will have young speed readily available at several spots.

Bettis, Clark & Hoge back at Steelers camp
LATROBE, Pa. - As the Steelers defensive backs sat in their meeting room on Sunday night, a familiar face slipped into one of the chairs in the back of the room and started to watch film. It was after a few minutes that Coach Mike Tomlin welcomed him back, a welcome that made former Steelers safety Ryan Clark feel right at home.
“Coach Tomlin tries to create a feeling and spirit of family when it comes to the Steelers and you are always welcome back and that is how I felt,” said Clark. “I felt welcome. I felt like I was coming back to family.”
