Steelers kicker Suisham has “potentially significant” knee injury
Posted by Mike Florio on August 9, 2015,
The primary goal of preseason action isn’t to win games but to not lose players. In that regard, the Steelers sustained what could be serious blow during Sunday night’s 14-3 loss to the Vikings.
Kicker Shaun Suisham suffered a knee injury, reportedly on the third-quarter kickoff. After the game, coach Mike Tomlin dubbed the injury “potentially significant,” via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Suisham, the only kicker on the roster, tackled Marcus Sherels on the play, apparently suffering the injury while going to the ground.
So the Steelers will need to quickly find another kicker or two, and the quality of the kicker they find could impact whether they go for one from the 15 or opt to go for two from much closer to the end zone.

of course this sh** happens to my team....losing your FFing FG kicker in the freakin pre season
I guess If I'm trying to be optimistic, we still have time to find someone serviceable before the games actually count.

I think he's on a mission to beat up the toughest steroid using paper towel dispensers in Russia like in Rocky IV

And this is why Ben was not even in uniform last night - the goal in preseason for the starters is to make it to the regular season
Hoping for the best with Suisham, but the Steelers have suddenly changed kickers in the past and it has worked out with Reed coming in after Kris Brown and Suisham after Reed lost it in 2010

I plan on the offense scoring a touchdown on every possession. What do we need a kicker for other than to kick extra points.
While I'm not happy about the loss of Suisham, he's not exactly irreplaceable. He's an above-average kicker who is rarely asked to kick long field goals. In 2013, he didn't attempt a kick beyond 49 yards. Last year he was 1-3 beyond 49 yards. That's why his FG percentage is so high in recent years ... almost all of his kicks are in the short to intermediate range. Suisham is dependable at close range, but not so much when he has to make longer kicks. He's an above-average kicker, not a Pro Bowl-caliber kicker. I've seen some fans acting like we just lost Ben for the year. I think we'll be just fine.

Suisham is feared to be lost for the year with a torn ACL. MRI will confirm today.
This is all bad man. Hopefully we find a decent replacement soon.

Season ending injury confirmed
Suisham has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and cartilage damage, and the team will almost surely place him on injured reserve, ending his season....
Among the possible kickers the Steelers will look at are veterans Billy Cundiff, Shayne Graham and Jay Feely.
