• We hear another potential free-agent quarterback who might appeal to the 49ers is the Steelers' Dennis Dixon, who could be a restricted free agent if league rules revert back to the last Collective Bargaining Agreement.

But if we do lose him, I think we should be looking for another backup. I don't want to have to rely on Lefty and Batch.

I still hold out hope that Dixon is our back-up of the foreseeable future. I don't think he's going to be Ben's replacement though. If some team comes along offering some sweet picks, I might be inclined to say trade him.
