| Fourth-year Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt sees fear as a big component of his defense this year. That is, the fear that it will generate in the Steelers’ opponents. Because when Tuitt looks around the locker room, he thinks he sees a defense that is going to be pretty scary in 2017. And why is that? Mainly, because the Steelers have so many players in their system now that are both young and experienced, which frankly is not something that is frequently true about Pittsburgh’s defenses. They have a history of skewing toward the veterans. But look around the roster. Aside from safety Mike Mitchell, one of the oldest players is Cameron Heyward, who is entering his seventh season. So many players in key positions are entering their fourth season or earlier. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/07/stephon-tuitt-calls-young-experienced-defense-freaking-scary/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SteelersDepotBlog+%28Steelers+Depot%29 _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. | He's right. 5 or so years ago Sapp said we were old and it was over yet instead of rebuilding we reloaded while holding our own. I won't say we didn't miss a beat. That would not be true but when you look at other teams that get as old as we were it's hard to name one without at least a couple loosing seasons in between. I can't wait to see what these guys do as a unit and hope we stay healthy this year. | |

| What the Steelers need is a Ike Taylor type of DB to shut down the opposing #1 WR man to man then the rest of the Steelers DBs can play zone/man to man, if they can't get pressure on opposing QBs they'll will get burnt playing zone or man to man. I'm looking into future where Burns is the player to be the Ike Taylor type and be able to catch the INT. Every defense has holes in it, but its the defensive front 5/6 to get pressure on the QB so he can't find the holes. Its the DBs ability to confuse the opposition QB when their man on man/playing zone or favorite target man on man and all eyes are on the QB. 1970s Steelers defense _________________ When the truth gets buried deep Beneath the thousand years asleep Time demands a turnaround And once again the truth is found
