Horrible news. I grew up a huge Rush fan in the 80s. Neil Peart was a drumming god.

I didn't care for Rush when I first heard them. I wouldn't call myself a major Rush fan today either, but I have absolute respect for their musical talent and ability.

Sad news indeed. I used to be a drummer myself. When playing in cover bands we used to cover Zeppelin ACDC Skynyrd Aerosmith and I could play those bands note for note. The only Rush Tunes I could cover like that were the songs that didn't have any drums. LOL

It's been my experience that there are 2 kinds of people in the world ... those who love Rush and those who don't like Rush. I don't think I've ever heard someone say, "Yeah, they're OK ... I like some of their stuff." It's odd. Rush has always been the one band where people seem to like them a lot or not at all ... very little in between.

I had a friend growing up who was a drummer. A bunch of us used to hang out at his house after school in the sixth grade. He'd put Rush albums on and play along with them. He was incredible. I'm not sure what happened to him. Haven't thought about him in years until I read your post.

I saw RUSH on their Presto tour.

Neil Peart had an amazing solo and it was what truly made me a fan of them.
