| LATROBE, Pa. -- The three weeks of grinding, training, and all of the hard knocks associated with the development of the 2023 Steelers at Saint Vincent College has come to a close.
Here are five players to be considered as "winners" and five that didn't perform to an expectation and would be tabbed as "losers" from the Steelers' sessions in Latrobe:

Pretty solid lists in my opinion. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Surprised to read that Leal is one of the losers this camp, because everything else I've read about him was positive, like this article from Wednesday:
https://steelersdepot.com/2023/08/watch-demarvin-leal-shines-with-great-technique-against-the-run/
Also surprised that Najee isn't mentioned as a training camp loser, because he was practically inivisible. No great runs, no great catches, no big gains. He looked like the Najee from the first games last season. I really hoped he would have built some momentum on the last games when he played well. Maybe he was just being careful to avoid injuries, but both Warren and MacFarland had a far better camp than him.

Leal also looked good in the first preseason game. _________________ I'm a shell of my former self.

I'd like to see more in preseason games to make any determination. Larry O is in a walking boot so Leal may get more snaps than usual. I think this game is the rehearsal game for starters since there are only 3 games now _________________

| I think this is a very good list at least on the winners side. Herbig and Alexander looked great in the game last week. It only benefits the team to have competition push someone like Moore to being better. The OL has been a problem for a while so the more (Moore?) good OL the better. I've never really understood McFarland, he looked good in the game last week and always seem to do fine on practice field, but he's been around 3-4 years now. You just wonder if there's another Warren out there somewhere .
Green had a horrendous game last week. The handwriting is probably on the wall for him. I don't agree with putting JPJ on the loser side. He's been matching against Pickens in camp and that's likely to make anyone and especially a rookie look bad. _________________
