| Watched "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and if you like a bunch of cursing to make the jokes funny, as well as a lot of sexual references, then by all means...enjoy.
I guess it wasn't my cup of tea, but I'll admit there were definitely some funny parts. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| If you watch one horror movie this year, make sure it's The Babadook. An Australian film that proves you don't need to show much or rely on jump scares to actually be scary. A widow, her young son, and a sinister children's story. _________________ Wallace108: Jon, how the hell do you expect any of us to ever follow your posts? You always set the bar awfully high. | I just saw the Thin Man (1934) starring William Powell and Myrna Loy. It's a detective movie with lots of drinking and humor. And a little dog too. It was very good.
I also saw the Sea Wolves (1980) starring Gregory Peck, David Niven, and Roger Moore. It's based off of a true story in which the British need civilians to blow up a German ship (because it's in a neutral harbor). So they recruit old soldiers who hadn't seen action in 40 years. Pretty good, some very good parts, but it's nice to see the older stars. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

| watched After the Thin Man (1936). I think it's even better, certainly funnier. As a sequel the only way it doesn't improve on the original is the ending. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

| They Came Together is a spoof on romantic comedies by the same group of people who made Wet Hot American Summer. Starring Paul Rudd as an exec at a candy corporation and Amy Poehler as a candy store owner who Paul Rudd is tasked with shutting down. The movie is hilarious and plays a lot with the staples of your typical rom-com. It does drag a bit towards the end, but there's enough jokes to make up for it. _________________ Wallace108: Jon, how the hell do you expect any of us to ever follow your posts? - I just watched The Eagle Has Landed (1976). Directed by John Sturges, starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland, and Robert Duvall. It was pretty good. The acting was excellent and Caine was the best I can remember seeing him. It's about Germans trying to capture Churchill during the war.
Also saw No Name on the Bullet (1959) starring Audie Murhpy. He's a hired gun with a name for getting his target to attack him and then he can claim self defense. When he shows up in a small town the town leaders start worrying about who he's there for. I'd recommend it. The Eagle has Landed is based on a novel by the same name by Jack Higgins. It's a damned good read, and the movie is good, but it doesn't do the book justice at all. _________________ "Success isn't owned, it's leased and the rent is due every day." - TJ Watt

That's generally the case, but every once and a great while the movie outdoes a book. Definitely a rarity though. I don't know if you read but Jack Higgins writes series of books centered around a character named Sean Dillon. He ties directly into the Eagle has Landed interestingly enough. I highly recommend reading through the series. Higgins a favorite author of mine. _________________ "Success isn't owned, it's leased and the rent is due every day." - TJ Watt

I've been horrible about it over the past few years. I used to read constantly all throughout elementary (I read at an adult level in the 3rd Grade, I was reading Stephen King while other kids were reading Dr. Seuss still), on up through middle school, high school, and college. After college I sort of lost my way. Played a little too much video games I think, instead of reading. I always liked reading because it stimulates your imagination. So it's about time I start up again. Why wouldn't you be able to read? If you don't mind my asking of course. _________________ "Success isn't owned, it's leased and the rent is due every day." - TJ Watt

Why wouldn't you be able to read? If you don't mind my asking of course. I'm kind of in the same situation as you. I didn't start reading a lot until after high school though. But I've stopped in the past few years. The job I have now is seasonal and we're busiest in the spring and early summer, so I just don't spend the energy on reading, I usually just get home and unwind by watching a movie or two. Speaking of which, yesterday I saw Where Eagles Dare (1968). It has Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. I was pretty disappointed with this one. To me it really lacks character development, although the acting is very good and the explosions are great. Also saw Chato's Land (1972) with Charles Bronson. Bronson plays an Apache who shoots a sheriff. Jack Palance leads a posse out to get him. But as Bronson leads them around and gives them trouble, the posse ends up falling apart. Really good one but a bit harsh now and then. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

Actually have that DVD floating around somewhere at my place. I do agree though, not a very deep movie. I just enjoy it as a good WW2 explosiony type of flick. I've been wanting to see Stalingrad. Need to order up the DVD or Blu-Ray. That's one that I haven't seen yet. Most recently as far as WWII movies I watched a sort of pseudo horror film called The Keep. It was not only very bizarre, but I thought it was probably one of the worst WWII themed movies I've ever seen. It was so bad, I found it comical and was laughing through a good portion of it. _________________ "Success isn't owned, it's leased and the rent is due every day." - TJ Watt

Yeah, I like a lot of WWII movies and cold war movies. Especially older ones. I guess I didn't like Where Eagles Dare so much because it was talked up, written by the same guy who wrote Ice Station Zebra and Guns of Navarrone (one of my favorites), and directed by the guy who wrote Kelly's Heroes (another really really good one). _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

| I've seen a few recently:
The Mechanic (1972). The original one with Bronson. It was pretty good, don't expect non-stop action like they make today though. The ending definitely surprised me.
Dark Star (1974). John Carpenter's first movie. It's a space comedy movie and it's slow (taking the pace from 2001 Space Oddessy). Some hilarious moments.
Mr. Vampire (1985). A very good Chinese movie about a vampire (probably technically a zombie in Western culture). Sets the bar for martial arts zombie movies imho.
Cronos (1993). A movie with a little twist on vampires. A little slow and doesn't follow the typical hollywood formula so it's probably not for everybody. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

| I haven't seen Cronos is years, but loved the new take on vampires. Plus it has Ron Perlman as the bad guy.
Just saw Night Falls on Manhattan for the first time from start to finish. Sidney Lumet sure knows how to make a courtroom drama (see also: 12 Angry Men, The Verdict) and there's some impressive performances all around, but especially from Andy Garcia. _________________ Wallace108: Jon, how the hell do you expect any of us to ever follow your posts? | Ron Perlman is great in it. it's one of the reasons I got it.
Never seen Night Falls on Manhattan, but 12 Angry men is one of the best
I just got done watching Airplane II. It's nowhere near as good as the first, and I'd say over half the movie is recycled jokes. Seeing Shatner in it is the highlight. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

Both worth the rental at Red Box, Project Almanac was interesting and entertaining.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2....eh, funny moments, but definitely not that great. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| just saw two movies. One was Interstellar. That was a very good movie, it's nice to see they still make good sci fi's.
the other was The Fastest Gun Alive (1956) with Glenn Ford. Pretty good one about a quiet, friendly shopkeeper who turns out to be the fastest gun alive. _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

I love it at the end of Falling Down when Michael Douglas says "I'm the bad guy... how did that happen?" _________________ Have you ever wondered what you would look like frozen in carbonite?

| saw Chappie and Seventh Son the other night.
Disappointed in Chappie, not as good as the previews made it out to be.
Seventh Son was ok at best, I'd give it 3 stars (max), and felt they left out some great opportunities to have some awesome scenes. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!
