| The Associated Press released it’s 2011 NFL All-Pro roster today, and two Pittsburgh Steelers were on it.
Each year, the Associated Press votes on their annual NFL All Pro Team. The selections are made by a 50-member panel of NFL journalists. Unlike the Pro Bowl, the votes for the AP All-Pro team don’t factor in what conference the player plays in. So AFC and NFC players compete head-to-head to determine who is really the best at each position.
Being named to the All-Pro Team is perhaps the highest individual honor that an NFL player can receive. Being named to the AP All-Pro team essentially says that among all of the players who play a particular position, this player is the best.
This year’s team features Steelers’ center Maurkice Pouncey. Pouncey was already named to the Pro Bowl team, but by being named All-Pro means that the sportswriters believe that Pouncey was the best at his position in the entire NFL this year.
Steelers’ safety Troy Polamalu was also named to the team.

| No surprises there, both are the best at what they do. Now if Pouncey could just stay healthy... | |

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't feel Pouncey had a great season this year. I wouldn't have been shocked if he didn't make the Pro Bowl. And I am shocked that he was named an All-Pro. Not that he played badly, just that he didn't play as well as he did last season. Plus the injuries. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. I hope this ankle thing is not long lasting. Isn't it the same one that kept him out of the SB? | |
