Chat box added

A chat box has been added. You can find it at the bottom of the forum.
We haven't decided yet whether it will go or stay, or maybe just be used on game days instead of a game day thread.

I'm torn on whether to have it or not, so let me know what you guys think.

Actually, I think it will work for game days a lot better than posting in a thread. But it will NEVER (are you listening Dubs?) EVER replace Night Owls.

Hahah. Yeah, Korn. We put one up on several occasions, and while it is a good feature, no one would ever use it.

I'm thinking of setting up and off-site chatbox in it's own page sometime in the future, but as long as it's stuck on the homepage, we probably won't bring it back.

I'll keep ya updated..

In all fairness, we tried it at least once during the offseason. On the other tries, I don't recall if it was during the season, but I don't think so. I wouldn't be opposed to having it for game days. I've seen the benefit of it. But it's a big box that just sits at the bottom of the forum. I don't like having it there taking up space all the time. If there's interest, we can discuss activating it just on game days to make game discussions easier. But it would be deactivated after games. Thoughts on that?

Honestly, forum post during gameday contribute to the board. I think setting a chat up in one of the stream pages I make on Game Day for stream watchers seems reasonable, though.

I understand what Dubs used to say ... it's a pain in the ass constantly having to refresh the page, especially when posts are coming in fast like on game days. A chat is more convenient because it updates automatically. Like I said ... it's not something I'd want on the board all the time, but I'm OK with it on game days. As a suggestion, we could have both the chat and a thread. People could choose which one they want to use. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we had the chat set up during an actual game. I'm not positive, but I think the times we tried it, it was during the offseason.

With some newer members, I'd like to get more input. If there's interest, I think we should at least discuss it and consider it.

There's an awesome chat box service i'd consider adding to a stream page of a game. I like the idea of having the game streaming and a chat right next to the stream for quick live chat. Most forums get 60 pages of posts in just a thread though, so I don't know. 50/50 for me.

And by the way: I never refresh. I post after a play and then read. The real pain in the ass is the notice warning you that someone else has posted before you, and that you may need to edit your post. Sometimes i'll think I have posted only to come back later and see the warning.

Yea if they are alot of traffic on then it would become a pain in the ass.

I don't believe I was here during the first season, and if I was, I wasn't active. So I can't really answer that.

I remember I tried to set up a chat one night to discuss the draft. Other than that, people would just kinda pop in and out. The problem was that it was buried at the bottom of the page. If it was in a different window, it may have been more successful.

I set that page up earlier this season and we've been using it for gameday chats rather than the forum. Last week it wasn't active, but in the weeks before we'd have good turnouts.

It looks like Truck was left with a lot of questions at the end of that.
