Steelers unrestricted free agents should all hit open market

The Steelers have a challenging salary cap situation facing them this offseason. That will force them to make difficult decisions and hold off from spending before fre agency starts.

G.M. Kevin Colbert made it clear that he doesn’t expect to re-sign any of the team’s 11 unrestricted free agents before free agency starts in mid-March. Colbert knew this cap crunch was on the horizon.

“We’ve seen this coming for a while and we knew we would have to make some serious adjustments after this past season, because the previous season we didn’t have a salary cap and really we took some liberties that year that we would not have been able to in a capped year. Some of that carried over into this year,” Colbert said via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

i hate to keep bring it it back to ward but if we are as pressed as they say we are there is no way ward comes back.....imo

The only one I'm actually concerned with re-signing of the 4 mentioned in the article is Cotchery, especially if Ward is truly let go. Gay, Starks, and Leftwich are replaceable.

As long as Cotchery's back i'm fine.

Needless to say, he has been demoted in our family.

make no mistake ward is one of my all time favorite steelers but unfortunately time catches us all. i will hate to see him go and would hate it even more if he signs somewhere else. we have a lot of talent at the WR position and i just cant see him coming back unless he takes a severe pay cut

Hey, I LOVE most of Virginia! I used to live in Alexandria.

It's the southern end of VA that seems to have issues
