| Ben restructured today, saving the team eight million dollar's. This effectively makes our Cap issues vanish:

When Colon restructured his contract, it left us with 5-6 million dollar's in Cap to make up for. Now, with Ben providing us with 8 Million dollars in savings, we're 2-3 million dollars in the safe zone. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

| Also:
Mcfadden and Battle cut's shaved off 3.9 million. Ike Taylor restructure shaved off 3.285 million, and Woodley and Timmons restructures combined for a savings of 10 Million +
Willie Colon just restructured, and saved us 2.85 million, and Ben Roethlisberger saved us a whopping 8 million as just reported. I'm not a mathematician, but that add's up to 28 million +.
We started the off-season 25 million over. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

| This is all based on the the initial report that we we're 25 million under. However, that number may be as high as 30 million. No official number has been announced. Either way, we're 29 million to whatever that final number is. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

| "Reporter Ed Bouchette writes that the cap space saved by the Roethlisberger restructuring will put the Steelers at about the cap limit of $120 million."
Doesn't that mean they are right at the cap limit now? Or is he somehow not taking into account the other restructured deals.
Bouchette also doesn't seem to think that keeping Wallace is a possibility, and I kind of tend to agree with him. Some other team will make him some ridiculous offer that the Steelers just can't match...but it'll be worth a 1st round pick at the very least. _________________

| Well, the cap limit isn't 120 million for starts, it's estimated to be in between 121-124 million. I did the math above, and either way, we've saved 29 million. The estimated amount we needed to make up for coming into the off-season was 25 million. If that numbers correct, we're below the cap. If that number isn't correct, we'll have to see what is correct before we can determine what shape we're in. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

Ohhhh kay, I get what you mean now. I just read that all wrong. I somehow got it in my head that you were saying they would be 25-30 mill under the cap after Ben's restructuring. Stupid numbers. _________________

| My concern is the Steelers have taken significant money and spread it out over the next few years. How much of a bind will they be in next year or the year after? In years past the front office would restructure a contract or two to get under the cap and usually the cap increased in the following years as the impact of those restructures occurred. This year, they restructured several contracts and the cap is not expected to increase much. I have faith in the front office because they've never allowed this organization to get screwed by the cap, but I haven't seen them go to this extreme to salvage the current year. | |
