| Steelers CB Gay signs with Cardinals

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Steelers have lost their first significant free agent as cornerback William Gay has signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Gay wrote on his Twitter account this morning that he is leaving for Arizona.
Gay, a fifth-year veteran, came into his own in 2011, starting 15 regular-season games and tying for the team-lead in interceptions with two. Gay tied for second in passes defended with 13.
His loss provides an opportunity for Keenan Lewis and second-year men Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown.
Gay had hoped to re-sign with the Steelers, but the team does not have much room under the salary cap

I wonder if Scott Brown got this confirmed or if he's just going by Gay's tweet, which is what everyone else is going by. Brown only mentioned the tweet. While this could very well be true, I kept thinking that while #Birdgang is definitely a reference to the Cardinals, could Gay be referencing the Louisville Cardinals who made the Final Four yesterday? That's where he went to college. Just a thought.
EDIT: I did a search and found that Louisville fans use #Birdgang in reference to the Cardinals. http://www.digitallouisville.com/keywords/l1c4/birdgang

| I thought we might have him for one more year but heh, Steelers west came calling. Without Lake as a coach we'll see a decline in his skills. Let the young guys step up. | |
