I'd choose Troy Polamalu. We've seen in the past what happens to our defense when he goes out for an extended period of time and the impact he has on our defense when he's on the field disrupting plays. We also don't have a lot to count on as far as a backup in Mundy, Allen, or Cromartie-Smith that can come close to replacing him.
I also think he'll have to fill a lot of the leadership void left by the departure of guys like Farrior and Aaron Smith on defense. He'll be invaluable even more so this year than in the past in that regard and our D will need him to pick up the slack. We can't afford to lose his veteran presence again this year considering we already have a shortness of that leadership.
I'd love nothing more than to see him make it through an entire season unscathed and wreak havoc on opposing offenses for a full year. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | It's hard to disagree with Troy for all the reasons Buddha stated, but I'm going with Ben. I'm confident with Batch and Lefty if we need one of them for a few games, but not if we need them long-term. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. | I think the obvious choice here is Ben. He's hurt himself each year behind our offensive line, even though this draft may have solidified it for the future. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

| Can I pick a corp of guys and say the O-linemen? The reason being that if the O-line stays healthy then Ben has a higher percentage chance of staying healthy, with the O-line healthy, there's a great chance the offense controls the clock more and allows the defense to be well rested ,therefore giving Troy a higher chance of remaining healthy all season. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |

| Maybe I should have gone with our long-snapper since we know what happens when we have to rely on Deebo. _________________ -"I stand corrected... But I absolutely and wholeheartedly fart in the general direction of almost every other thing you have posted to this point."- | |

| Ben. Without Ben, the offense sputters. Ben touches the football EVERY offensive play. He makes the most plays and is at a key position.
If I were to choose someone on the defensive side of the ball, it would be either Woodley or Harrison because those guys are important to stopping the run and blitzing. If Troy blitzed more or had more interceptions, I would say him. _________________ Twitter: @SteelersYak

| Woodley.
Why? I think that when he was nursing his hamstring injury last year, his absence had a definite impact on the defense (not as many sacks as we should have had) _________________ | |
