Yeah.... "Saw" was kinda tacked on to fill out the list of 10. It's not the "Greatest Of All-Time" list, just a "Which One Is Best Out Of These" list. How about I switch it with "A Nightmare On Elm Street" (the original)?

I voted for Halloween (Original), Friday The 13th (Original), and A Nightmare On Elm Street (Original).

It's not on the list, but my all-time favorite horror film is an Italian movie called Suspiria. I'd recommend almost anythinng by Dario Argento.

That was a good movie. I owned it for a short time, but lost it somehow.

The Haunting (1963) is probably the best horror movie ever made but since it's not an option I went with The Shining (Dawn of the Dead and Halloween).

Dump The Devil's Rejects (Even though it already had some votes), House of 1000 Corpses was far superior. You can also dump The Evil Dead because Evil Dead II is basically the same movie with a bigger budget and better lines. Replace that with the original Hellraiser. Dump Rosemary's baby and replace it with The Re-Animator. I also thought The Ring was better than Saw. This is coming from a major horror movie fan.

There are so many that could be added to this list and I'd vote for them in a heartbeat. The Changeling has always been one of my favorites, as well as In the Mouth of Madness, Last House on the Left (original) and of course Romero's The Crazies and Night of the Living Dead series. Romero will always be a favorite for sentimental reasons.

I did not like The Ring that much (the remake anyway)...much preferred Saw. Though, after the original I could do without every sequel that was just made for gore factor, and not so much for the storyline.

I acutally watched that way before the remake came out here, so I had no clue what to expect. I also made the mistake of watching the movie alone at night. I didn't get much sleep and turned the tv to face the wall.

Haha...I know the feeling. One rainy night I decided to watch Sauna and then Paranormal Activity with headphones on. I went outside to have a smoke after watching them and was jumping at every sound! I don't usually get freaked by horror movies (especially stuff like Paranormal Activity)...but watching both of those with headphones just makes them extremely creepy and tense.

Hollywood has done a surprisingly decent job of remaking Norwegian/Scandinavian horror films though (and other genres). I really enjoyed Let Me In, Brothers and I'm excited to see the remake of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Right now though, for me, the Scandinavians have a clear advantage on the horror/thriller market. There's so many that are just a breath of fresh air. (Trollhunter!)

I love watching a foreign film every now and then , regardless of genre, just because it seems their films are superior to some of what's released nowadays here at home.

Well, then I'd definitely recommend some Scandinavian flicks to you, if you haven't seen many. They are just about my favorites right now. They have a bunch of good ones on NetFlix if you have that (even streaming). I'd say watch Trollhunter, Girl With the Dragon Tatoo and Let the Right One In before anything else. Oh, and Rare Exports. That's a hell of a story! More original than anything you'd find in Hollywood.

EDIT: I forgot the instant streaming had a subtitles option, nice. Watching "Let the right one in" now.

Instant Streaming has everything but "Rare Exports". I dropped the DVD by mail service, but i'll look it up online somewhere once I've finished these two.

Haha...yeah they have subtitles on Netflix for those. I don't think they have Rare Exports on DVD through Netflix. It's something we have downloaded. (Don't know if you do torrent downloads, but I know it's on a few sites.)

These are the shorts that the movie was based off of (Rare Exports Inc. and Rare Exports: The Official Safety Instructions). Just an awesome flick all around.
