Pouncey said he took a couple snaps and thinks he will play. Also said if it doesn't blow up overnight he is playing. Color me stunned. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | Five ruled out for Sunday; Ben is fine Posted by Teresa Varley on October 19, 2012 – 2:03 pm
Running backs Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman, as well as safety Troy Polamalu, tackle Marcus Gilbert and linebacker Chris Carter have been ruled out for Sunday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, however, fully participated in practice on Friday after a minor ankle injury in practice on Thursday forced him to miss the last few minutes.
“This is a lot of overkill for nothing,” said Roethlisberger when answering questions about the injury following Friday’s practice. “I knew I would be fine. I was fine. I just rolled it, nothing big. It was good to get back out there and practice.

| Polamalu, Gilbert out; Pouncey in for Steelers on Sunday
Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu and tackle Marcus Gilbert will miss their second game in a row, but center Maurkice Pouncey is expected to return when the Steelers play the Washington Redskins, Coach Mike Tomlin said today.
Pouncey did not play in the 24-17 victory in Cincinnati after sustaining a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his knee in the previous game in Tennessee. But Tomlin said he expects his Pro Bowl center to practice Wednesday and play Sunday against the Redskins at Heinz Field. PG VIDEO
Tomlin said there is also a chance that the three players who did not play against the Bengals -- running backs Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman and linebacker Chris Carter -- "have a chance" to play against the Redskins.
But Polamalu, who aggravated a right calf injury against the Philadelphia Eagles; and Gilbert, who has ligament damage in his ankle, will not play against the Redskins -- and are expected to miss several more games.
This is the fourth game Polamalu will miss because of the injury.

Ed Bouchette (from Sulia)
Q. on my #Stelers chat today: Could Mike Adams supplant Marcus Gilbert at RT when he returns from his injury? My Answer: Yes, judging by how the coaches, including Mike Tomlin, have praised him, I would say if he keeps it up, the job could be his. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | Polamalu brightens Steelers injury report, could return against Ravens November 7, 2012 12:32 am By Ed Bouchette / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
It appears that Antonio Brown and Chris Rainey are out, and Jonathan Dwyer is in. Some of the most important injury news Mike Tomlin presented Tuesday, however, was that Troy Polamalu may return in time to play Nov. 18 against the Baltimore Ravens.
As well as the Steelers have played on defense recently, having their seven-time Pro Bowl safety and former NFL defensive player of the year back in the lineup should make them even more dominant.
Or would he?
The Steelers are 3-1 since Will Allen moved into Polamalu's spot at strong safety, replacing Ryan Mundy. Allen will get his fifth consecutive start Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. He won't get a sixth as long as Polamalu is healthy and there's no reason to explain why.
What Allen has done, though, is bring stability to the position while one of their best players has been out. The Steelers rank as the No. 1 defense in the NFL in fewest yards allowed and also in fewest passing yards allowed.
