| Mike Bires @mikebires Last week we speculated that Mike Wallace might end his holdout this week, maybe as early as today . I've been told he's already in town _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

Mike Wallace to report to Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend
By Ian Rapoport
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace has informed teammates that his plan is to show up this weekend and sign his restricted free agent tender. The speedster sat out training camp, with hopes of reaching a long-term extension. Two sources with knowledge of Wallace's plans confirmed the conversations.
While Wallace waited for a new deal, the Steelers inked his sidekick, Antonio Brown, to a five-year, $42.5 million extension. Assuming Wallace signs his tender, he'll earn $2.742 million in 2012.
Word has spread in the locker room that Wallace will show up, though no one can tell if that will definitely be the case. He will miss the third preseason game on Aug. 25 against the Buffalo Bills and may sit out the fourth, as well.
Wallace led the Steelers with 72 catches for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns last year, but he'll have to learn a new offense under coordinator Todd Haley.
All along, teammates had been confident he would show up'
I can't believe I'm saying this.....but I'm actually relieved and excited to see Wallace

He's one of two people: 1. He's that guy who is really fast and can spread the defenses and help out the rest of the WR Corp or 2. He's Wallace108, the guy who drinks Beered Down Water (aka Busch Light) and works some craaaazy hours at his job, but not really working _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| If he does sign his tender this weekend or any time soon, I can only assess that his strategy was to hold out of camp so as to avoid any significant injury in meaningless games.
In turn he was still working out and staying in shape so we know that won't be issue, and while he may still need time to catch up with the playbook, how hard is it to know that your job is to go deep and not to outrun Ben's passes? _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| If he shows up when many are suggesting that he will, then the only issues will be whether or not he plays in the preseason at all and if there's enough time to work out a long-term contract. | |

My guess is that Wallace will try to avoid playing in any pre-season games at all costs. I don't expect he will. As far as the contract negotiations, he may have already screwed the pooch on that one. Unless he's prepared to sign whatever deal was on the table prior to the holdout immediately (and assuming the Steelers are willing to offer that deal again), he may just be playing this year for the tender. He may have just wanted to skip training camp and test the boundaries of what the Steelers would offer to see if it was possible to milk more money out of the deal. I hope that is what all of this was about and he's now willing to sign a fair long-term offer with us to stay a Steeler. If not, franchise his ass next season! _________________ -"I stand corrected... We all know the Steelers don't negotiate once the season begins. So basically he has 1 1/2 weeks to get a deal done. If it isn't in place by opening night then we can all be sure that the Steelers aren't going to be doing any negotiation until the season ends. And if it ends where we think it should, then that puts negotiations on a tight schedule. Besides this may be an issue for Wallace now that he didn't get his long term contract this year, and just move on to another team willing to pay him what he wants. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available!

| If Wallace reports, he won’t play in preseason By Alan Robinson Published: Wednesday, August 22, 2012, 7:26 p.m.
Mike Wallace’s preseason is effectively over even before it started.
If the holdout wide receiver reports to the Steelers and signs his $2.742 million tender Sunday or Monday, as his teammates believe he will, he still must sit out three days under the NFL labor agreement. That would keep him out of the final preseason game Aug. 30 against Carolina and prevent him from practicing until Labor Day weekend.
According to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Wallace already has an understanding of Todd Haley’s new offense, despite not being with the team since last season.
“I talked to him today. He’s excited. We’re excited,” Roethlisberger said Wednesday. “He’s been working, and he’s been working not just on his conditioning and strength but working through the offense. If he’s been putting the work in he’s telling me he’s been doing, he’ll be fine.”
• LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison missed a combined 11 games last season. With Harrison recovering from a knee operation, there’s a chance he won’t play Week 1 in Denver. “You have to be worried about the guys who are going to be here playing with you,” Woodley said. “We still have to play on Sept. 9. You would love to have James back, but if he’s not back, guys like Chris Carter are prepared to go out there and play. I think he’s going to do a great job.”

| I'm starting to believe that Wallace was only holding out for the pre-season to avoid serious injuries. _________________ 60 MIN 53 MEN 1 NATION STEELERS NATION I am the MAN that created the MYTH that started the LEGEND Don't choose good when greatness is available! | |

I'm starting to think that as well. He may have underestimated how much it may piss the Rooney's off though. _________________ -"I stand corrected... But I absolutely and wholeheartedly fart in the general direction of almost every other thing you have posted to this point."-

| Mike Wallace got what he wanted ...
By Mark Kaboly
If and when Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace reports and signs his restricted free agent tender Sunday or Monday, his first possible practice date will be Sept 3 due to the CBA rules combined with the Steelers upcoming practice schedule. Wallace accomplished just what he wanted -- miss all of preseason. He wanted to minimize the possibility of injuries and the best way to accomplish that is by skipping the preseason. Mission accomplished.

Wanna know what Mike Wallace was thinking about by skipping the entire preseason? Ask David Johnson and David DeCastro. _________________ -"I stand corrected... But I absolutely and wholeheartedly fart in the general direction of almost every other thing you have posted to this point."-

| We play on field turf a number of times this year, i'm sure. As long as turf is still existent, these injuries will happen. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy
