PITTSBURGH – Two weeks ago when DeMarcus Van Dyke signed with the Steelers, he created quite a buzz in the locker room. After all, he’s a cornerback who’s been timed in the 40-yard dash at a blistering 4.28 seconds.
That’s faster than Mike Wallace, the Steelers’ speed demon of a wide receiver who’s been clocked a 4.33.
But that doesn’t mean Wallace is conceding his unofficial title as the most fleet-footed Steeler.
When asked who’s the fastest player on the team, without hesitation Wallace said “Me.”
“You don’t want me to say DeMarcus, do you?” Wallace added. “It’s not going to happen. He’s fast. He’s nice. But I’m nicer.”
Wallace, a Pro Bowl wide receiver, knows that speed is relative. Getting clocked in the 40 at the NFL Combine wearing shorts and t-shirt is one thing. Running on the field in pads and helmet in the heat of an NFL game is totally different.
A fourth-year pro, Wallace has already proven he’s one of the fastest and most feared pass catchers in the league. Van Dyke, who’s in his second pro season, is still trying to prove he has what it takes to last.

What's funny is that the Steelers news feed censored the headline to say: Ex-Raider Van **** has speed to burn.
I wonder if **** LeBeau will use him on defense now that we don't have William ***.
