Steelers notes: Maybe a roster move at WR

PITTSBURGH – With Antonio Brown doubtful at best for Monday night’s game against the Chiefs, the Steelers may have to make a roster move and add a wide receiver.

Besides Brown, who has a high ankle sprain, the only other wideouts on the roster are Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery.

Since offensive coordinator Todd Haley often uses a personnel group that features three wide receivers, the Steelers probably don’t want to go into any game with only three healthy bodies at that position.

“That’s something we’ll consider, but definitely something that’s a necessity at this point,” coach Mike Tomlin said of a potential roster move.

Fatty foods, not Plaxico Burress, will give me a heart attack. Plaxico is more a danger to himself than to anyone else.

To be honest, if this is a temporary thing, I wouldn't mind seeing Plax back in the B-n-G. He has history with Ben, has good hands, and can be an instant boost to the depleted WR position.

And if he can play well with others, and leave his guns in NY, then why not?

How about bringing up that Gilreath kid for a couple of games? He looked good in preseason.

I'd like to see that. I expected him to make the team until they decided to go with only 4 receivers.

It would be good to see this kid get a shot like Drizztbob said he didn't look bad in preseason.

Shocking and not at the same time. Like it says, I think the Steelers hope he clears waivers so they can re-sign him to less money as punishment for his indiscretions. With what he's accused of and could potentially face in court, it's possible he will because no team will want to touch him until everything is cleared up. He hasn't done much of anything on the field to persuade a team to risk it either, IMHO.

I'm guessing he clears waivers and the Steelers re-sign him right away.

Well TBH, I'm more happy about the Gilreath move...that kid had some special plays. Would be cool to see him on the field a couple of times.

I liked what I saw of him in the preseason. Now he has to do it for real. I'm hoping he does good because we may need him longer if Brown's injury turns out to be worse than first expected.

I wouldn't expect to see much of Gilreath tonight, at least not on offense. But if Brown is going to miss a few games, he should get some work going forward.

I'm sure we'll see him more on special teams than anything else.
