| I'm surprisingly OK with this. But what does it mean? Is Brown's injury worse than they thought? _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

That, or Cotchery was banged up badly late last night. Hopefully it would be a VERY short-term solution. I dislike Plex quite a bit and do not want him around our young receivers long enough to taint them in any way with his stupidity. _________________ -"I stand corrected... Tomlin said Sunday night Cotchery suffered a rib injury, so he might be headed for IR if multiple weeks _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| We should be shopping for Quarterbacks...not Wide Receivers. Batch is glass...really worried about the Browns game..even if its the Browns. Go and sign someone like McNabb or Max Hall. Hell..even bring back Tommy Maddox. | |

| Sources say Burress could be signed to Steelers
By Gerry Dulac / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Former Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Buress will work out for the team on Tuesday and could be signed to replace injured Jerricho Cotchery, a source told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Cotchery injured his ribs late in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens and was taken from the field.
The Steelers are already without leading receiver Antonio Brown, who has missed the past two games with a high ankle sprain and might not play in Cleveland.
Burress was the eighth overall pick by the Steelers in 2000 and played five seasons until he left after the 2004 season in free agency. He 261 catches, 4,164 yards and 22 touchdowns with the Steelers.

| Steelers bring in Plaxico Burress for workout as injuries mount at receiver - Quote :
- The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing in wide receiver Plaxico Burress for a workout tomorrow with the real possibility that he could be signed.
The Steelers are in dire need of bodies at the wide receiver position. The team’s top receiver, Antonio Brown, has missed the past two games with a high ankle sprain and it is unclear if he will be able to play this week.
Meanwhile, Jerricho Cotchery, who entered the season as the team’s fourth receiver but has seen his role increased with Brown out, suffered a rib injury after taking a big hit from safety Bernard Pollard late in the team’s loss last night to the Baltimore Ravens.
Cotchery left the game with a rib injury, and the fact that the team would bring in a receiver for a serious workout is a sign that it is the type of injury that could result in missed time.
With Brown down, the team already promoted receiver David Gilreath from the practice squad. The first year pro spent last season drifting around different teams’ practice squads and spent all of this year on the Steelers’ practice squad before being called up last week.
He saw his first bit of action on offense yesterday, taking a reverse on the second play of the game for a 7-yard gain. The undrafted player did not record a reception in his limited snaps, though he was targeted deep down the field late on a pass that fell well short of his reach.
Including Gilreath, the team has only three receivers on the 53-man roster that are currently healthy.
The Steelers have two on the practice squad currently—two rookies with no playing time. Toney Clemons was the team’s first of four seventh round draft picks this year.
However, he did not leave enough of an impression to make the 53-man roster over undrafted players like safety Robert Golden, linebacker Adrian Robinson, or fullback Will Johnson.
The team also signed receiver Derek Moye to the practice squad after Brown’s injury. The undrafted rookie spent training camp with the Steelers before being cut prior to the season.
Burress was arrested in December of 2008 for illegal possession of a firearm. He was released last year and signed with the New York Jets. He recorded eight touchdowns during the season, but the team chose not to re-sign him
Burress has spent the entire season waiting for his opportunity to sign on with a team after failing to receive much of any interest. Now, it appears he may get his chance with the team that originally drafted him—the Steelers—back in 2000.

| His signing may be announced around noon tomorrow, granted he passes his physical. They wouldn't bring him back to town if they didn't intend on signing him, especially with the rumors and chatter earlier this year in the off-season. I fully expect him to sign, and play, Sunday against the Browns as the #3 guy. I'm alright with it, too. This guy pulled in EIGHT touchdowns from Mark Sanchez!!!! Obviously touchdowns aren't everything, but he isn't going to have a major role in the first place. Anything more than a sure-fire redzone threat would be a plus at this point. _________________ "Either you're playing dumb, or it's not an act". -Judge Judy

| Plex being a big target with something to prove is not the end of the world. There are worse options out there. Just hope he has kept in shape. If it was his intention to be resigned by an NFL team, he should have. _________________ Win, Lose, or Tie, I'm a Steeler fan until I DIE!!! | |

| I'm sure they're looking at QB's too.
I'm fine with Plax being signed if he's still looking good. Not anyone I want for long term, but he'll do as a bandaid fix.
Also, what is it with these freakin' rib injuries? Whatever happened to good old hamstring pulls and sprained ankles? Geez... _________________

Also, what is it with these freakin' rib injuries? Whatever happened to good old hamstring pulls and sprained ankles? Geez... I'm in agreement here. With both Brown and Cotchery out, we need someone to fill the third spot. There's not a lot of options in November. If he's in shape and ready to go, Plax should be a good, temporary addition. Ultimately, it would be nice to see Gilreath step up and fill the void, but there's no guarantee there. And I read somewhere today that they're not confident enough in Toney Clemons to promote him. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart.
