I wasn't picking on Batch in particular. If you head to Fever, you'll see for weeks now I've had his back. Hell, Zu and I we're the only ones sticking up for him at SU when everyone else was calling him Botch. Great game.

I don't have a problem with anyone who doubted Batch. If you go to any Steelers board on the Net right now, you'll see a hell of a lot of Steelers fans walking back their comments they've made about Batch the past few weeks. What I DO have a problem with is a few people who tried suggesting that I was a complete idiot for suggesting that we could win with Batch. After two losses ... one in which Lefty was left in the game with two broken ribs and Batch was severely handcuffed by the play calling ... I was told that my comments had been debunked, and it was inferred that I had no idea what I was talking about.
After watching Batch play tonight with some practice and an offensive game plan that didn't handcuff him like in the Browns game, let me quote myself from a month ago. I said this then, and it's still true today:

The reason I'm not panicking and believe that we can continue to be successful even without Ben is because there isn't a HUGE drop off with Lefty or Batch in there. No, I'm not saying they're as good as Ben. What I'm saying is that Lefty is experienced and has been successful in this league. We know he can get the job done. If the offense scores 17 to 20 points every game and the defense plays like it's capable of, then there's no reason we can't contend. I'd feel much differently if an inexperienced QB like Jerrod Johnson was taking over.
Before today's game ... hell, even DURING the game ... fans were screaming that Hoyer should be playing instead of Batch. There's a reason why a select few get paid to make these decisions, and the rest of us get to watch the games and bitch about the decisions on the Internet.
Let's keep things in perspective ... even WITH Ben playing, we lost to the Raiders and Titans and were tied with the Chiefs when he got injured. It's not like our offense was throwing down 30 or 40 points a game with Ben under center. What you saw from Batch tonight was about what we've gotten from Ben on average this season. Before Ben's injury, we were averaging about 23 points per game, and that's what Batch gave us against the Ravens. The first game against the Ravens and the game against the Browns were fluke games. What we saw tonight from Batch and the offense is what we should expect with him or Lefty in there. They're both experienced quarterbacks who have had success in the league. That's why I said a month ago that there's not a huge drop off in production if Ben isn't in there. We saw that tonight.
Yes, I'd feel much more confident if Ben was playing. But I also believe in Lefty and Batch. They're older and at the end of their careers, but they're not scrubs.
Now, let me know when anyone is interested in having a real discussion about Wallace, his play, and his future with the Steelers.

Batch played like the professional and consummate athlete he has always been for the Steelers. As for Wallace, as I have said for a few weeks now, I'm afraid for his future with the Steelers. Although he did step it up at the end of the game when we needed him to most, his first half of play was uninspiring and downright depressing. Even Wallace looked depressed.
I'd hate to lose his speed and big play making ability, but it is a bit of a reoccurring theme with him, showing up for half of things...games/seasons. Steelers players our known for their heart and never give up attitude and from what I see of Wallace a lot of times is a give up, why me attitude. IMO.

All you doubters and haters can kiss my Batch!!
I admit I was a doubter...how dare I? And yea...if Batch was in the room I probably would kiss him and let NBC air it.

On 12/02/2012 the Steelers beat the Ravens with their 3rd string QB! Charlie Batch! AWESOME!
It's funny though ... I STILL don't have any faith in Suisham.

Like I said before in previous post....I close my eyes when he kicks....NO KIDDING!
But ole Suisham has been our game winner how many times this year? I'm thinking 5 games? If you ask me he may ought to be player of the year for the Steelers next to Miller and Dwyer....toss up?

Yeah, I know it's time to have faith in him. I've given him kudos throughout the year, but I don't wanna get too carried away with the confidence. I know as soon as I do, he'll drive a stake right through my heart. I'll just keep doubting him and hope that he keeps proving me wrong.

1-2 is fine and dandy at the very beginning of the season. All that matters is that you close the season strong, and in Ben's absence, the team won one out of three in the stretch of the season. We need to get Ben back soon so he can knock off that rust and get into some kind of a rhythm before January comes around. That time is Suday, and I believe a rough first half for Ben is the forecast coming off three weeks of injury rehabilitation. If we take care of business the rest of this season, expect to see 16 get revenge on the Brownies to close the season.

Charlie did well last week, and he may be a little momentous. I would REALLY like to have Ben back this week so we can start developing a rhythm again with him at center, but a loss next week doesn't necessarily end the season, and Charlie DID look good last week. Make no mistake, Ben WILL be trying hard to play in this one, but if not, I think throwing Charlie in another game is alright. The Chargers can't make the playoffs, so they'll probably be playing half-hearted and another win without Ben will set things up nicely. Even with all that said, I do expect Ben to play, just saying it isn't as "probable" as everyone is hinting.
