How he played since Ike Taylor broke his leg including last week's performance against A.J. Green, Cortez Allen has shown that he is a viable starter in the NFL. That bring us to Keenan Lewis. Lewis had a breakout year, but is a free agent. He might not command a huge pay day on the FA market, but he will get paid nicely. With another solid performance by Allen against the Browns Sunday will that lower with what the Steelers are willing to pay Lewis to re-sign? The Steelers want to bring back Lewis, but they are not going to overpay especially when they have a pretty good fall back plan like Cortez Allen.

It's the same philosophy the Steelers used last year in allowing William Gay to leave. As I stated earlier in another thread, I believe that we need some stability at the corners. Ike isn't getting any younger, and it won't be long before Clark and Troy will have to be replaced. It would be nice to have some veteran corners (Lewis and Allen) anchoring the secondary when new safeties enter the picture. Why does it seem impossible for us to have two solid corners? Re-signing Lewis should be the top priority this offseason. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |
