How many years does Roethlisberger have left?

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had what was described
as a minor procedure done on his right knee. This sent a wave of anxiety
through Steelers Nation and stirred discussion about Roethlisberger’s
remaining time in the NFL.

Specifically, on Sirius XM Radio on Ross Tucker’s The Opening Drive, the topic
of discussion was how may productive years does Roethlisberger have left?,
with Tucker adamantly pointing out that Roethlisberger had played 16 games in
only one of his nine seasons. He went on to say that Roethlisberger’s style of
play will not afford him the longevity at the quarterback position like that
of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

Tucker posted the following tweet about Roethlisberger: “Many assume all these
elite QBs will play into their late 30’s. I’ll take the “under” on Big Ben….”

This does raise a question that is critical to the stability of the Steelers
quarterback situation: how much longer can Roethlisberger play his style of
football in the NFL?

I'd say he's got 5 good years, then a dragging on 2 years before the Steelers will be in need of a significant upgrade.

I'd take 5 but I think he only has about 3 more good year left in the tank

The question to the question is, when do we draft his replacement?

Hopefully jones will be ready for that when the time comes

Anybody here have anxiety over Ben's knee surgery? This is about the most minor thing he's had done in his career. I was anxious when he performed a swan dive through an old ladies windshield a few years back. But this ... no.

Not concerned here. And he was actually put in the same space as "Brady and Manning". Does this mean Ben is secretly GAY?

Not at all. I don't think anyone had any anxiety anywhere.

with the resurgence of our offensive line i think he could play until hes forty

You could be right va, but I'd be a little surprised if he's still playing at 40. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me to see him still in the league, but I don't see him being able to play at a high level. A 40-year-old body doesn't perform (or recover) like a body in its 20s or early 30s. And few quarterbacks have taken the constant beating that Ben has over the course of his career. I just don't see his body holding up that long.

yeah, thats just wishful thinking. honestly if ben is still starting at forty i think we would be in trouble

Erin has been telling me he's going into this year lighter and in better shape than last year, and if he continues to stay in shape, he could have another 5-6 left in him.

I say this is Ben's last contract with the Steelers. Landry Jones was Haley's pick to run his offense in the future.

I think 5 or 6 more years is quite reasonable. That would put him at 36 or 37. Then again, with Ben's style of play, every game could be his last.

It's unfortunate that with Ben it isn't like predicting his remaining years as if he were Brady or Manning.

However, I'm happy with the way Ben plays the game, and it's exciting being a fan watching him play the game. I feel certain that without him, we wouldn't have been to 3 recent SBs. On the other hand, it is scary to know that because of his reckless abandonment for playing on the edge could be his last.
