Early in the offseason, Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley came under criticism from members of the organization for not being in good enough shape during the last couple of seasons, with the added implication that his lack of diligence in the offseason led to injuries that kept Woodley from helping the defense.
The anonymous slams of Woodley led to an angry response from other Steelers players about keeping criticisms in house rather than airing them in the media. It looks like we’ll avoid another round of the same during training camp.
Steelers linebacker coach Keith Butler said that Woodley is “where we need to have him” and that the linebacker “looks good.” Butler also said that he tried to impress on Woodley the importance of being in the best shape possible.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/29/steelers-happy-with-lamarr-woodleys-conditioning/ From Woodley's condition, to the less than pleasant relationship between Ben and Haley, to all the injuries, to the situation with Wallace, to the 8-8 record and missing the playoffs ... last season was frustrating on a lot of levels. As a fan, it sucks going through a season like last year, but it's actually beneficial from time to time. It serves as a kick in the ass to the team. This year's team seems a lot hungrier and more focused than last year's team. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

I'm thinking the same thing. This team is definitely more focused and more people are in better shape this year. Troy, Issac, Johnny D., and others are all slimmer and are doing well in camp. I hope that it translates to the field come week one.
