Steelers vs. Redskins - Pre-season Game 2

Ok, so tonight the Steelers play the redskins in pre-season game #2. It's amazing listening to the talking heads on ESPN on how decimated the Steelers are due to the loss of key free agents.

I'm surprised they've picked us to win any games at this point.

Looking forward to tonight's game and seeing what the first string guys can put together.


Another key note: Has anyone else noticed that teams are suffering a lot of key injuries across the board this pre-season? The Steelers have had minimal injuries since camp opened and that could be a good thing for our team chemistry, and overall production throughout the regular season.

There's nothing to win in preseason, but there's a lot to lose through injuries. Three more "games" to get through.

Here's what I'll be paying the most attention to tonight:

1. Offensive line. As we know, it all starts right there.
2. Jarvis and Worilds. Let's see who wants it.
3. Special teams. At the very least, we need to see fewer mistakes.

Those are some key things, I'll also be watching the WRs do their things as well. I certainly want to see how well they can hold to the ball, run routes, and clear the way downfield. The standard for a WR is the one Hines Ward set during his tenure in Pittsburgh.

And here we go...first offensive series.

And man I forget Bell is getting his first start of the season....want to see how well he hits the hole, blocks, and out of the backfield.

started off well, and then collapsed. Not sure what is going on, but the o-line looked confused for the most part and the 3rd down pass play was terrible. Ben looked more like Sanchez than he did himself.

and WHY are we still punting it down the center of the field instead of towards the sidelines?

Worilds already making mistakes on coverage.

great pressure creating an overthrow. And Gay had some good coverage there.

And our punt return team, once again, leaves somethign to be desired.

Right now it appears as if the Redskins are keying on Bell. Right now I'm getting the feeling that our offense is just a glorified version of what it was when BA was in house.

it also looks like we will be utilizing two RBs this year.

either the routes are too intricate or our o-line doesn't know how to block long enough. I'm going with the latter. Our line has to do a better job of protecting the QB.

What the hell kind of play was that. A little dump pass and Ben doesn't even key on the Kerrigan?

well there was one kick towards the sideline.

Offensively, we look like a bunch of rag-a-muffins who just got thrown together. Completely unimpressed by the job the first stringers are doing.

O-line isn't blocking well at all
When Ben has dropped back he's been rushed to get rid of the ball.
If this is Haley's offense, he better be prepared for the shite storm coming his way.

well thankfully the defense wanted to play tonight.

3rd series looking much better. Except for the holding call.

That play to Paulson was all on Ben. Johnson was terrible in that block. He got used and abused. Ben made that play.

Bell out with a foot injury? W T H?

And another stoopid offensive penalty. Hands to the face (Pouncey).

And let's get another holding call...ugh!

DIdn't even try to hide it. Adams is getting abused.

the two weak spots for this team this year is going to be the o-line and special teams.

I don't know. Is it even worth watching the rest of this game?

well the one thing that has always been a constant in Pittsburgh - DEFENSE!

thank goodness this is a pre-season game because this is becoming a comedy of errors. And our line is looking putrid at best.
