| Looks like Tomlin wasn't waiting around. In the end, this became a swap of RB coaches with the Vikes. Steelers.com write up below: - Quote :
- James Saxon Named Running Backs Coach
Posted 1 hour ago
Entering 23rd season in the NFL as either a player or coach.
The Steelers have named James Saxon their new running backs coach, it was announced today.
Prior to Minnesota, Saxon coached running backs for the Miami Dolphins (2008-10), Kansas City Chiefs (2001-07) and Buffalo Bills (2000). He got his start in coaching at the collegiate level at Menlo College (1999) and Rutgers University (1997-98). | Hmmmm, it's interesting that we just swapped coaches with the Vikings. Hopefully he learned a lot from AP. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

Seems Saxon has either been in the right place at the right time, or is a pretty good coach. See this write up from Steelers Depot. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2014/01/new-steelers-rbs-coach-james-saxon-has-a-resume-that-speaks-for-itself/ He's taken guys that have faced adversity and helped them have career years. I'm impressed by his work with Brown and Williams in Miami. Le'Veon Bell has major talent, so we'll see what Saxon can do here in the 'Burgh.

| Kirk, if you're pointing in the right direction, then they've done a kick-ass job at hiring position coaches this offseason. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

As fast as they picked him up I was wondering what it was they saw in the guy. Even though Saxon might have had success in his past as did the other position coaches, chemistry is still a big factor on the success of the game. Tomlin has to build a coaching staff that can work well together and be effective coaches.
