Timmons literally throwing up during Thursday game (yeah, I know, some of us were also).
Worth reading

| Playing on the road wasn't why they ran an end around from 3rd and 4 at the 8 yard line.
Stop making excuses. They got outplayed and outcoached.

| That's certainly an interesting article (and stat). But I'm not sure how much we can read into it without more information.
What I'd like to know is how the home-team winning percentage correlates with how far the opposing team had to travel. For instance, if the Steelers have to play in Cleveland on a Thursday game, the Browns' home-field advantage really isn't any greater because it's a short week. On the other hand, if the Steelers have to travel to the West Coast during a short week, the travel could have more of an effect.
Both the Steelers and Ravens played in a short week (in other words, neither team was coming off a By week). And since there wasn't much travel involved, I don't think the Ravens' home-field advantage was any more of a factor than if they had played on Sunday. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. | ^^^ True ^^^ Some fans are complaining (on other forums) that Timmons appeared slow. As a nursing student, I can promise that any one of us would be slow when our pyloric valve is in spasm! _________________

| I don't like Thursday games. It's too short of a turnaround, and it doesn't give the players' bodies enough time to recover (what happened to player safety?). But playing at home doesn't give the home team's bodies any advantage. Unless, like I said, the opposing team has to travel far. But travel can affect a team even during a regular week. Now, if a home team gets a By week before a Thursday game, that's a HUGE advantage. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

| Steelers lost in Cleveland on a Thursday night in 2009.
Next?

| I, too, am against Thursday night games for the same reason. However, it is Goodells league (for now.....)
And no, it doesn't excuse the Steelers play. Hairball claims that all the negative publicity really galvanized the Ravens and brought them together. This I believe. As a matter of fact, I told a friend on game day that I believed the Steelers would lose (but not by the margin that they did). 1) Ratbirds are at home. 2) Opening loss and they wouldn't stand for losing two 3) The negative publicity would fuel the fire

Not to overlook our obvious issues, but if you take away our two fumbles and a few of the costly penalties, it's a different game. I'm not saying we would have won necessarily, but we would have at least had a chance. Not that we played well otherwise, but mistakes and penalties are what killed us. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Ravens, but we beat ourselves. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.
