Steelers release Moye from practice squad

PITTSBURGH -- Derek Moye has been around the NFL long enough to know that anything can happen on any given Sunday or, in the Rochester native’s case, Wednesday.

That explains why Moye wasn’t too surprised or heartbroken when he was released from the Steelers’ 10-man practice squad on Wednesday morning.

“You want to be somewhere. You want to be there and obviously have a job and try and get better,” Moye said. “But (the Steelers) have injuries and things like that. They have to do some shuffling around. I understand the business side of it.”

You just had to throw salt in the wound, eh Wally? I grieved about this on Twitter... hoped it wasn't going to make it on here.

But now that the can of worms has been opened, I think Moye should NOT have been released and instead should have been signed. For crying out loud, how many more times to I have to watch JB and Moore drop passes or do stupid things? Moye may not have blazing speed, but he catches the ball. He's a tall guy which could help us in the red zone (I understand we have a faster version of that in Bryant).

Ah well.

Hopefully he'll be back and not just for the practice squad.
