Quote :
CLEVELAND — Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has entered treatment for unspecified reasons, telling his team he needs to improve himself before rejoining.

Manziel entered treatment last Wednesday, an advisor for Manziel said in a statement released by the team on Monday.

“Johnny knows there are areas he needs to improve on to help him be a better family member, friend and teammate, so he decided to take this step in his life during the offseason,” Manziel advisor Brad Beckworth said. Beckworth says the former Heisman Trophy winner and his family are asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland.

Given the lifestyle I see on TMZ... I'd have to imagine it's for drugs and/or alcohol. This guy is a cancer to his team and I don't think he will have much more of a career in the NFL.

This is the least shocking news imaginable. In all seriousness though, I don't root for anyone's failure (off the football field). I hope he can get his life straightened out and grow up a little.

And in other news, the Seahawks lost the Super Bowl last night.

the Patriots** go from 3*** to 4****

please use Patriots****** when referring to them.

And oh, I'm not shocked Manziel is in treatment. Maybe during treatment he can learn how to play QB in the NFL.

He is extremely immature. He may change, he may not. Personally, I think his character is what it is. If he does become great, don't expect him to be humble in any way shape or form.

Otherwise, yea Brownies. Another great decision you all made.

Don't worry, he won't become great. The throws he made in college (from behind one of the best offensive lines in college, to one of the best WRs in college) won't work in the NFL. He doesn't have the tools or the talent to make it in the league.

The longer they hang on to "Johnny Football" the longer it will take for them to turn it around. I bet they hang on to him for at least another year, maybe two. Then it will take another few years for them to draft the QB of their future and a few years for that young QB to get the hang of the league. My prognosis is that the Browns will suck for at least another 5 years, minimum, because they made this mistake and won't undo it soon enough.

I have no clue why they got rid of Derek Anderson. Thought he was a good QB. Manziel enters treatment 2087824411

In my opinion, Anderson is sort of like Hoyer.
Hoyer isn't going to be an elite quarterback, but I think he can be good. You don't need an elite quarterback to be a good team and win. Plenty of teams have done well (and even won Super Bowls) without an elite quarterback. Just look at the Steelers ... we almost won a Super Bowl with Neil O'Donnell, who certainly wasn't elite. We almost got to a couple of Super Bowls with Kordell, and we even threatened with Maddox. If you have a good defense (which the Browns have), you don't need an elite quarterback ... just one who is good, plays within the system, and doesn't beat you himself. Anderson was that kind of quarterback. And I think Hoyer can be that kind of quarterback. The Browns made the mistake of putting Hoyer in the position of constantly having to look over his shoulder. He knew it wasn't a question of if, but when, Manziel would take his spot. That's a tough position to be in, especially for a quarterback who doesn't have a lot of experience and hasn't had a chance to build up his confidence.

Think about what might have happened if Hoyer had played in that last Ravens gave. The Browns hung in there until the 4th with their 3rd string QB.

Going with Manziel instead of Hoyer near the end of the season was a huge mistake. I understand Hoyer was struggling, but that was a total toss-in-the-towel on the season. Now the Brownies are in a spot where Hoyer knows he's not #1 in the organizations eyes, the #2 guy is in rehab, but he's no good (and the organization might not get that point yet), and their #3 will be washing cars by the end of next season. It's like the groundhog saw his shadow for the Browns ... minimum 5 more years of suck-dom.
