Matthew(the owner) put the site up for sale. Barring some miracle, I'd imagine it's not coming back. At least not as it was. when one is trying to sell an apartment building , it's easier to sell when there are tenants already in place . how does shutting the forum down increase the value ? why did that asshole fork out 23k only to do nothing with it ? found this... http://steelersfever.com.w3snoop.com/

how does shutting the forum down increase the value ? why did that asshole fork out 23k only to do nothing with it ? The only way it makes sense is if he's washing his hands of it. But even that doesn't make sense. Even if he couldn't get out of it what he wants, something is better than nothing. But think back to when he bought it ... has he ever done anything that made sense? _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

Add "TESS" to the list. I doubt Matthew gives enough of a shit to do that for us. Part me also wonders if he let the site be shut down to try to instigate someone into buying it from him. He might feel a desperate SF user my fork over the money. _________________ -"I stand corrected... That's an interesting thought. My theory (and that's all it is) is that he cut his losses and walked away from it. In the age of social media like Facebook and Twitter, message boards have lost a lot of their popularity. Matthew overpaid for Fever 5 years ago, and I'm sure its value has plummeted because of the reduced interest in message boards. There was no way he was going to get back anywhere close to what he paid for it. Obviously, I don't know the details of his situation in terms of costs to keep it up and running and any revenue he was generating, but if he was losing money on it, I guess it made sense to him to just shut it down rather than keep losing money. The hole in my theory is that it would make more sense to sell it for cheap and take a huge loss rather than shut it down and get nothing. But this is Matthew we're talking about. One thing I think we all know for certain ... whatever he's doing, it's with his own interests in mind and not those of the Fever membership who made Fever what it was. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. No doubt he gives less than 2 shits about any of us. He wasn't a Steelers fan anyway. He bought solely because he thought he could profit from it nothing more. I understand if he was losing money that it's in his best interest to shut it down, but to walk away from it without warning and giving people an opportunity to say goodbye or find other ways to stay in contact was just wrong. That board has been going for at least 10 years now and some have been there for at least a significant portion of that time. There's a lot of emotional investment in those relationships as you and I can attest to from previous experiences. He should have allowed some type of closure or communication between members before flipping the switch. A dick move no matter how you slice it. _________________ -"I stand corrected... | Also, on the Steelers Fever Facebook page I saw a message from Stu Pidasso saying he was having trouble logging into SX. Can somebody here help the man? @bayz101, can you message him there that we're trying to help him? He sounds like he's just gonna bail the boards if he can't. _________________ -"I stand corrected... I responded to his message on the Fever Facebook page and told him how to contact us here so we could help resolve his issue, but I haven't heard back from him. - Buddha Bus wrote:

Everything you said is 100 percent spot on. When I sale this forum for a six pack and a dozen donuts, I'll give everyone a heads up. And then laugh at the poor sucker I just ripped off. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.
