BOTTOM LINE Golson has the twitch, ball skills and instincts to be an outstanding cornerback in the NFL. Despite playing so much zone in college, there is no reason to believe he can't transition to any coverage asked of him. He's well put-together, but his lack of height could force some teams to view him as a slot-only corner. Golson has Pro Bowl potential.

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Mississippi cornerback Senquez Golson with the No. 56 pick in the NFL draft.
Golson, 5-foot-9, 176 pounds, was a unanimous first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC selection in 2014. He tied the school record for interceptions with 10 and was a Bronko Nagurski finalist.

Eh, I like it. I didn't know much about him but he definitely sounds like a guy who would only be a "reach" here because of his size. And I am a FIRM believer that size for a CB is the absolute most overrated metric of any position. CB's needing to be large to be successful or play against large receivers is the biggest myth in sports.

I actually like it though I wonder about the size. However, turnovers have been lacking in recent years.

Don't like this pick, too small. 5'8" 176 lbs? They will throw jump balls to their tall wideouts all day against this kid. Imagine A J Green jumping over him. Also how can he support the run at 176? Just can't see it. Hell, we might as well make Dri Archer a corner, at least he can run.

People think about CB size the wrong way. It definitely helps but you don't need to be 6'3 200 to knock a ball out of a guy's hand. You need to be tall to catch a ball over a guy as a wideout but as a CB you don't need to be tall to get in the way and prevent him from catching it, if you're skilled enough to get in good enough position.

Okay, from what I have read and the highlight video posted in this thread, I like what I see. He seems to have a great nose for the ball as a defender so he could be the ball hawk the secondary really hasn't had since Woodson.

Its time to shut up about drafting a cornerback... FINALLY!!!
Mel and Todd Todd Todd called him the best pick in the first 2 rounds thus far, so I guess there's that. (If it was pop warner, I would have to agree).
Sick ass ball skills though and was drafted by the red Sox.

Jason Verrett was drafted in round 1 last year by the Chargers and he's the same size as Golson.
I like Golson more than Verrett

He wasn't drafted to be a shut down cornerback(If so he'd go round 1). He was drafted to be a playmaker.
I truly think he can start day one at the slot CB. He has the talent. Yes his size will have give him problems and could hurt him but it didn't stop Antoine Winfield(5'9"), Tim Jennings(5'8") & Brandon Flowers(5'9") from being successful corners in the NFL
