2 questions (nice lists, btw): Hitchcock's Lifeboat? That's an interesting pick for a favorite out of his films. It's underrated, too. Hume Cronyn is great. It's hard to against his classics like Vertigo and stuff, but one of my favorites is The Trouble With Harry. My other question, Have you seen Wages of Fear? The first hour is a little slow but once it gets going the suspense is great, such a wonderful black and white film, too. _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) | Wow, I'm not sure I can come up with a top 10. There are so many movies I love. And some of them wouldn't make anyone's top 500. I'll have to put more thought into it, but off the top of my head, here are some that are in my top 10 ... The Usual Suspects Kingpin Weird Science Hoosiers Full Metal Jacket _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

The Birds, Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window, etc. are all great...but Lifeboat, Dial M For Murder, The Lady Vanishes and 39 Steps were always my favorites of his. The Trouble With Harry is fantastic too. Love Hitchcock though...even his mediocre stuff is still entertaining to me. - Quote :

Have never seen it...but I noticed it's part of the Criterion Collection, so hopefully it will be one they have on Hulu+, or maybe even NetFlix. _________________

Yeah, I know what you mean, also loved the Lady Vanishes. Notorious actually might be my favorite. I love Spellbound too. - SteelCityMom wrote:

Last time I checked Wages of Fear was on streaming for Netflix, I'm not sure if it still is, but the atmosphere is really great. - Wallace108 wrote:

Kingpin Weird Science Hoosiers Full Metal Jacket Good list, love Kubrick. But I'm embarrassed to admit I've never seen Hoosiers. _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) "I am proud to be a Steeler, no doubt about it. I was born to be a Steeler." - Farrior

| Another good list. Glad to see good taste on this board However, I really wanted to like Fear and Loathing especially because Gilliam directed it but I don't know... I'm not too fond of Depp or Thompson so that probably explains it. Absolutely love Halloween and Clerks. Empire Strikes Back should be on my list, ha. | OK, here it goes ... this list is in no particular order, and there are many, many more that could be added to it.
1. Full Metal Jacket 2. Young Guns 3. Kingpin 4. The Stand 5. The Usual Suspects 6. Weird Science 7. Hoosiers 8. Dogma (I could have put any Kevin Smith film on this list) 9. National Lampoon's Vacation 10. Boyz n the Hood
If I did this list again tomorrow, it would probably change. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Most of Kevin Smith's films are great, I personally like Clerks. the best out them all but I was surprised by how awesome Dogma was, that and the fact a church actually let Smith use it as a location for the film. _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) I was always partial to Mallrats, which is the least popular of his early films. Mallrats and Dogma are probably my two favorites, but there's not much separating them from the other films. I feel the weakest one was Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but I even loved that one. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

I have to admit I love Jay and Silent Bob, I remember watching it quite few times in consecutive days with my brother. After ten years my taste has changed a little so I don't enjoy as much as before but eh. My least favorite is probably Chasing Amy but I haven't seen that in a long time. So, you even loved Jersey Girl? _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) "I am proud to be a Steeler, no doubt about it. I was born to be a Steeler." - Farrior

I haven't seen Jersey Girl or Zack and Miri. I've seen all of his other films tons of times, but I just haven't had the ambition to watch his post-Jay and Silent Bob films _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass.

| Zack and Miri was all right... except for the Roethlisberger joke near the end (I think it was near the end) during the incredibly uninspiring third act.
I have yet to watch Jersey Girl though and it's safe to say I never will. _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) "I am proud to be a Steeler, no doubt about it. I was born to be a Steeler." - Farrior

I have yet to watch Jersey Girl though and it's safe to say I never will. Jersey Girl is ok for just a pure entertainment perspective. If you ever watch it, don't expect the world out of it and you'll enjoy it just fine. Agree about Zack and Miri...but I think it has more to do with the final part of seemingly really good comedies being somewhat mediocre. I find that happens often in comedies. They start out strong and sort of fizzle towards the end, when the plot gets a little more ridiculous. I liked it overall though. _________________
