| What movies do I find incredibly boring? Romantic comedies. And not just because they're "chick flicks." Steel Magnolias is considered a "chick flick," yet it was a fantastic film. Almost every romantic comedy is a paint-by-number movie. Guy meets girl. Guy and girl hate each other. Guy and girl hook up. Guy and girl fight and break up. Guy and girl get back together and everything works out. The End. I can't even sit through most romantic comedies. I'm not sure if I fall asleep or go brain dead for an hour and a half. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart. Otherwise, you're just an ass. | |

| I totally agree wiith Wally on rom-coms, so formulaic.
I've tried watching Waking Life twice and fell asleep both times. It's just a bunch of scenes of people talking existentialist bullshit. _________________ Wallace108: Jon, how the hell do you expect any of us to ever follow your posts? I feel like you can stereotype any genre of film which basically just comes down to bad formulaic films whether it's rom-coms or not. Punch-Drun Love is brilliant film not to mention most of Woody Allen's greatest films are rom-coms. Waking Life is brilliant man. You need to try to make it to the end. There are a few scenes talking about existentialism but the whole thing isn't "existential bullshit" it covers a lot more philosophy than that and for the most part is just Linklater's ideas on politics, religion and philosophy. _________________ (Big thanks to Wally for hooking me up with a great sig.) | I like A Lot Like Love. Pretty good movie, even if it follows the formula. But isn't the formula for love/romance predictable anyways? _________________ Twitter: @SteelersYak

But isn't the formula for love/romance predictable anyways? Yeah, but they could mix it up once in a while. Maybe at the end, have one of them get eaten by a shark, or abducted by an alien or something. _________________ If you're going to be a smart ass, you'd better be smart.
