Three Steelers are going to the Pro Bowl

The three Pro Bowlers for the Steelers this season are Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and David DeCastro. Could you imagine if Maurkice Pouncey played this season, or if Le'Veon Bell was still healthy? The Steelers conceivably would have five Pro Bowlers on offense alone.

Sadly, no defensive players are going to the Pro Bowl as anything other than alternates. Not that many deserve to go, but Cameron Heyward was mentioned as a notable snub.

No we're not having anyone go to the pro bowl, Tom Brady will be the starter in that game if you know what I mean

Cam got ripped off, much like A. Smith used to.

If we had an UN-probowl Blake would be a lock.

Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown selected to Pro Bowl

Ben Roethlisberger, QB, fourth Pro Bowl selection: Roethlisberger is on pace for nearly 5,400 yards and 29 touchdowns over a 16-game season. He deserved to be one of six quarterbacks on the Pro Bowl list despite missing four games to injury. His 96.4 passer rating is among the league's best, and he's a two-time AFC Offensive Player of the Week. It's surprising this is only Roethlisberger's fourth Pro Bowl in 12 years, but it's his second straight selection, which means he could be a fixture in this game for the next few years.

Antonio Brown, WR, fourth Pro Bowl selection: Brown had been pacing the receiver field in Pro Bowl votes and receiving yards (1,586). Brown earning his third straight trip to Hawaii was an easy call. Brown was destined for a Pro Bowl pick, but he has validated that status every week. Brown ranks first in scrimmage yards (1,614) and second in receptions (116). Arguably the league's best receiver, Brown will likely have a quality end-zone celebration planned for this year's Pro Bowl.

David DeCastro, OG, first Pro Bowl selection: DeCastro served as an anchor for the Steelers' top-10 running game. With Maurkice Pouncey out, the Steelers have relied heavily on DeCastro as a pulling guard downfield. As a result, DeAngelo Williams has nearly 800 rushing yards and nine touchdowns despite not starting six games. DeCastro helps pace an offense that ranks second in net yards per game (402.9). DeCastro is also solid in pass protection and has started 38 straight games. Either DeCastro or right tackle Marcus Gilbert needed to make the team as a representative from a quality offensive line.

Cameron Heyward, DE: Heyward has been the best player on an improving defense. He was the team's most valuable player at times. His seven sacks don't fully illustrate his disruption at the line of scrimmage this season, and he's solid against the run. The defensive end category is always loaded, so Heyward was a long shot but he deserved consideration and should make the game as an alternate.

Happy to see Roethlisberger, Brown, and Decastro made it in. Decastro in particular, he's really starting to remind me of Alan Faneca. Would've loved to of seen Heyward, or Tuitt get in though, both of those guys have been playing stellar football, and they play nearly every single snap.

Blake should be pissed. He tried to get Doug Baldwin, Jon Brown and Amari Cooper on the team with his performances against them.

Good to see DeCastro go, but I honestly thought Gilbert has had a better year. Its a numbers game and somebody had to make it from the O line.

Glad they made it but the pro bowl is a joke anymore, haven't watched one in years.

You guys wish your punter made it to the Pro Bowl. Koch has been our best player.

Heyward should be there.

I have attended every Pro Bowl that has been played here in Hawaii since 1980 but I'm not paying good money to watch this stupid format...

Last year's Pro Bowl was actually pretty good. I felt like it was the most competitive one I've watched in a long, long time. The whole Team Irvin/Team Carter thing meant teammates could actually end up playing against each other in the Pro Bowl, and I seem to remember one of the Chiefs' linebackers completely destroying Jamaal Charles which was fun to watch. I am hoping that plays like that didn't force the NFL to tone the Pro Bowl down this year as I could see the teams complaining (understandably) about not wanting to get their star players seriously injured.

The Pro Bowl is where players are selected by votes from Players, Coaches, Fans. Each group counts for 1/3 of the vote. So 2/3 of it is voted by Players and Coaches, so its somewhat of an honor for guys to be selected.

The game itself is always going to be watered down, because nobody wants to get a career ending injury in an all star game. Every all star game is like that. I never understood the fans and media that complain about the game...its the best players in the game, playing at 75% intensity so they don't blow and ACL. If you don't want to watch that, then don't.

I'm sure a guy like David DeCastro who made his 1st pro bowl doesn't think the honor is a joke.

Sounds like the Steelers in the late 90's. Josh Miller was our best player in '99.
