I know a lot will say "who cares what he does as long as he keeps playing like he does on the field"
But the Rolls Royce and now the mansion is a bit much.
I guess I'm not used to seeing Steelers players act this way because of their fame.
I was always a big Jerome Bettis fan and he never portrayed himself like that.

I think he's still pretty humble he's got the 'dolla dolla bills yo' so he's having fun being the monopoly guy.
But ultimately keep up the A1 play and us as fans really won't care.
I know I don't, I just want to get another silver pedestal with a football on it :)

Personality wise he seems to be one of the more soft spoken and humbled people in the NFL. I say he's humbled because he doesnt run his mouth about his success, or put anyone below him. He does however have a lot of confidence in himself and he also likes to spend his money on flashy things. But he was once homeless. I think he's enjoying what he's worked for more because it wasnt ever expected of him to get it.

10 years ago we wouldn't have known about the RR or the mansion, at least for some time.
In today's social media society things are instantly known about athletes and stars alike. The only way to avoid it is to remove yourself from social media altogether and live a recluse life. If AB did that, then what would be said about him?
Personally, if he's got the money and the car & the mansion make him happy. Have at it. Just hope he's got a stock pile somewhere after he's done playing football. Otherwise he'll be nothing more than a side note in a long line of former athletes who have a sub-standard life after the game.

It's not like he's got T.O. attitude or Prime Time attitude or even Johnny Football attitude. He likes his bling, is excited that he's doing well and does his little stunts after scoring TDs. He busts his ass to be the best, helps his teammates, and gives plenty to the fans. His competitors say he's fairly quiet and he even says that he lets his performance speak for him. Hell, I say bling it out dog.

good post. and good posts throughout the thread. although I'll say T.O. and Johnny football's problems go way beyond attitude. In fact, I would say it could be argued that T.O. had a good attitude and work ethic but had a terrible mentality for a professional athlete; when the pressure got to high or when the wins were hard to come by he just went nuts
somebody (not T.O.) going nuts:

AB still seems like a bring your lunch pail to work kind of guy. Except the lunch pail is 18kt gold, encrusted with diamonds, and he comes in a RR instead. taking the bus.
My only complaint would be to tune down the 1st down / TD celebrations a bit.

To people who know nothing about him, AB's actions may seem over-the-top or "all about him".
But for those who know of him beyond the bling and the posturing who have listened to his interviews or read about things he's done and said or have listened to what his teammates say about him, he's not nearly as self-centered as he may seem and I see him more as a big kid who is having the time of his life and what's wrong with that?
Everyone has heard how someone can be described as a "Happy Drunk" or a "Mean Drunk" and knows what people mean by that. And when it comes to football players, there's a "Happy Arrogant" and a "Mean Arrogant" and AB is easily the former and I honestly think it's less about arrogance than it is about just being super confident and absolutely loving what he does.
I don't think it's possible to be really good at something without being at least a little arrogant about it and after all, it isn't really arrogance if you can back it up with results and AB does that in spades.

He is flashy, but he seems to be grounded, and he does seem to be a positive force on the field personality-wise (production-wise too). He's not one of these guys like Moss or Owens that is destructive to the team..you have to wonder if Hines' influence early on helps there. He did make a little noise when he wasn't getting the ball when Ben was hurt, but for the most part he goes out there and quietly does the job at elite level. Dizzy Dean used to say: it ain't braggin when you go out there and do it.

The level of humility that AB has, doesn't affect my daily life, so he can do whatever he wants. His haircut makes me laugh, so I hope he keeps up with that.

Dude is the best WR in the NFL and will go down as the best is Steeler history. Steeler fans should count their lucky stars that he is as humble as he is. He could be so much worse.

Doesn't bother me. And yes he could be much worse. The guy is a good teammate, citizen, and we're lucky to have him. I think he's just enjoying the benefits of the good life that he's worked his ass off for.

If he was a ravens, browns, or Cincinnati player we'd be calling him all kinds of names

He's earned his money. He's allowed to spend it any way he feels like.
I just hope he's setting himself up for life and not spending every single penny until the next check shows up. You just don't want to see that happen to someone, but that's his business.
What did bother me was the threat of holding out for a new contract with three years left on the deal, and showing up his quarterbacks and acting like a spoiled brat when Ben was hurt and he wasn't getting his catches, yards, and Sportcenter highlights.
Heath Miller set him straight and explained to him how that kind of behavior isn't acceptable when your supposed to play for something more than yourself.
He says he got the message. I hope he has.
He is on his way to having a HOF career and possibly being considered one of the greatest of all time if he stays with Big Ben for a while longer and wins a championship or two.

You should see me if I became the hottest thing in the NFL tomorrow and made millions. I'd be wearing a blonde wig and mustache in Las Vegas going by the name "Billy."

He works so hard to be great and help his team win.... there's no way I can criticize him for being himself when he celebrates his success.
But...... keep it within reason.

at least it doesn't say "bigger than God"
Let the guy have fun. Like others have said, as long as he's being safe with his money because millions of dollars isn't what it use to be and can be easy to spend away.

He doesn't have the off the field issues like Manziel, T.O., or Gronk but I did like him when he was more humble. I get that with stardom comes a much bigger image but his "antics" (for lack of a better word) seem to be escalating. I just hope he doesn't get too big of s head where it affects the locker room or the on-field performance.

Not every player is going to be Heath Miller off the field. As long as he continues to catch passes and put up the best receiving yardage of any player in his generation (and this is exactly what he's doing, by the way), who cares what he does?
I've never understood the mentality of "Players must be humble! No celebrating!". They're playing a game. If this is the kind of life he wants to live, let him. What he does off the field, as long as it's legal, shouldn't bother anyone.
Steelers fans are so spoiled we complain about how our All-Pro receiver, and likely the best of his generation, may be too flashy off the field. Meanwhile, Hue Jackson should probably stick to renting a place in the Factory of Sadness instead of buying while he trots out RGIII for two games before he shreds his ACL and Carson Wentz gets his NFL career shortened by playing for Cleveland.
This fan base sometimes man.
