Golson: 'It's time to crank it up'

In just a few weeks the Steelers will take the field for OTAs, the first big step in their offseason program. In addition to all of the newcomers to the roster this offseason, there will be one player in particular that many eyes will be on, cornerback Senquez Golson.

Golson, the Steelers’ No. 2 draft pick in 2015, missed the entire season after suffering a shoulder injury during the team’s offseason program last year.

But a year later, he is ready to go and for the team it’s like having a bonus draft pick this year, a young player they haven’t seen a lot from yet on the field, but are anxious to see develop.

"We are excited about getting Senquez Golson back in the mix,” said Coach Mike Tomlin earlier this offseason. “I think oftentimes he is forgotten about. We were excited about him a year ago when we drafted him. I still share that same level of excitement. I can’t wait to get him back on the field."

Can't wait to see him back. He is an important piece to this year defense as I don't think Burns is ready. We need Gay at outside.

Good story. I hope he turns out to be an Ike Taylor with hands. A Troy that wraps up when he tackles. Actually I'd just like to see him become a solid corner who( like he said) will be around for awhile. I'm all for that.

I think this defensive secondary is going to be much better than what we've seen over the past few seasons. Sure there will be growing pains, but we have an offense that can score on any defense in the league and make up for some mistakes by the defense.

He's got potential. I remember during early days of training camp, they asked antonio brown who was the rookie / young player that impressed him the most, and he said golson, and said he's a 'special player'. Excited to see what he can do.

So if I understand everyone correctly....

This young man keeps getting overlooked by all the talking heads. Grant as well. If they both work out and the rookies as well this team will be pretty deep in the secondary for a long time.
