Here's to hoping he can stay healthy and have a lockdown season for us. I am not real keen on him coming in and I think they over paid him. I think they reached a bit but I am hoping this guy can give us all he has left and then some.

a plus for us is he has more familiarity with the wrs within the division.

hope he can stay healthy and help out our secondary.

Any cap guys knows if this deal shuts down a Tuitt extension??

There is still about 8 million in cap space this year to lock up Tuitt if the sources posting about Haden's contract are true.

Love this signing. Now just stay healthy young man! Definitely an upgrade over Cockrell who has been incredibly disappointing this camp, and preseason.

I'm not going to lie: I like this move. It is bold, and it feels like we are all in this year.

I think Haden has more than some in the tank yet. He is only 28. And he has got to be hyped to play for a team that has big hopes this year.

And provided Haden gets snaps in Game 1 vs. the Browns...oh my. That is going to be fun.

I agree. I think the question is whether he can stay healthy. If he can, then our secondary is considerably better. If he can't, well, then we're no worse off than we were before today.

I think he just didnt care in Clev....he'll be motivated now

I'm hoping the fact that he turned down more money means he really wants to be here and will give us his best.

Not sure what this means but it sounds like it could be a good deal for us. Hope he stays healthy and proves he's worth the money.

I think he had culture shock when he went to Cleveland. He went from winning at U of F, to loserville in the matter of seconds when he was drafted.

Now he has an opportunity to see what it's like to win!

I hope he can find his 2010-2014 level back. In any case, this was the move the Steelers had to make with Ben playing maybe his last season (two at the most imo). It's a gamble of course, but not one that could hurt them for the future. High character guy off the field too. He did a lot for the community in Cleveland and he is one of the only 30 Special Olympics global ambassadors.

It was already difficult to figure out which CB's will be cut and it's only tougher now. Imo only 3 players are sure to make the roster: Burns, Haden and Sutton. Golson will be cut or placed on IR again. Then we have Cockrell, Sensabaugh, Hilton, Gay and Allen fighting for 3 spots. I think they will take the risk to let Allen go and hope he makes it through the waivers to get him on the practice squad. If we may believe Aditi Kinkhabwala, Cockrell and Sensabaugh will need to fight for their roster spot tonight (her intel isn't always right) which means that Hilton and Gay would make the roster. I would always keep Cockrell, but I have a feeling that they aren't somehow very fond of him (no long term contract, 4th round tender). That AB called him out on training camp and that he didn't respond well on the field after that isn't doing him any good. They would also save the most money by cutting him. So I fear it might be him. Other option is that they keep 7 CB's with Gay also back-up safety. After Mitchell and Davis the drop off there is really huge anyway. I would keep Dangerfield, but Golden and Hagen won't be missed imo.

He must have checked out physically, otherwise so many other teams might not have been interested. His past 2 seasons have definitely been bad, so we have to hope he bounces back and can still be a #2 CB and not a guy that is just in free fall decline of his skills.

Its a big contract they threw at him, so starting to look like this is one big push to win it all before Ben is done and the Josh Dobbs era begins.

Don't know if its motivation as much as he knows all the teams in the division and went from one that always drafts in the top 5 picks to one that drafted in the bottom 5 picks this year.

Now he plays for a team with a HOF franchise QB, instead of one still searching for a reliable starter. Besides, he is likely to get Staph infection if he stays in Cleveland any longer.

In Haden's defense he played almost the entire season in 2016 with a groin injury. He's a tough guy. We've seen what he can do when he's 100%, I just hope he can stay healthy for this season. He can really be a difference maker for us. Coupled with Artie Burns, I don't think Haden is going to have as much pressure on him now, as he had on a defunct team in Cleveland. We have guys that can make plays from all over the field defensively, so Haden won't have to try to be superhuman. I think Artie Burns is going to benefit from his tutelage as well.
