Steelers @ Panthers (pre-season Game 4)

Tonight is the end of pre-season.

This is a key tune up for some guys, and a roster making performance (or not) for others.

What are you looking for in tonight's game?

Offense:
A good rhythm
No penalties on first drive
First Drive TD

Defense:
Solid Tackling
good coverage
pressure on the QB
off the field on third down

I'm predicting lots of Steeler fans gnashing of teeth and complaining about plays that aren't that bad. Mixed in with a minor bit of overreaction of play calling and clock management/going for 2 point conversions by coaches.

Dupree and Watts meet at the QB, and the Steelers have the ball.

2nd look, it may be an incomplete pass, but even if it is, the defense got off the field on 3rd down.

I'm disappointed Ben didn't start tonight. I'm guessing this is just precautionary due to not wanting any injuries going in to week 1.

I love the run by Watson.

Jones gets hit in the arm, throws up a dying bird which is easily picked off, and returned 20 yards.

defense did great the first series.

However, this 2nd series, they had stoopid penalties and gave up the run way too easy.

almost as if they were scared to tackle.

Watson has looked good running the ball, and I'm thankful Dobbs is now in the game

I know it's only pre-season but where is everyone?

Defense having a decent game. Some missed tackles, and some missed opportunities, but all in all I think it's been their best pre-season game.

Offensively, Dobbs has lead the offense better than Jones did. They seem to respond better with Dobbs under center.

Webb with a great deep ball against the Steelers secondary, and it shows there's still some work to be done on coverage. Maybe Haden can play a few downs and show us what he's made of and why he deserved so much money

Panthers take the lead with less than 2 to go in the 1st half - 14-10

with the 2 minute drill, the offense becomes predictable. Short screens and 10 yard outs.

At the half, panthers lead the Steelers 14-10

Steelers intercept the ball but Golden pulls up lame. Grabbed the inside of his thigh.

At this point, the objective should be to minimize injuries, let some kids get some playing time, but keep the players healthy that we need to make it to play in February.

Steelers run it 4 straight times, and fail to convert. Panthers take over on downs.
