Roethlisberger: 'I don't think it's my last' game at Heinz Field

Ben Roethlisberger talked about contemplating retirement in the offseason, but the Steelers quarterback said Wednesday that he isn't thinking about Sunday's AFC divisional playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars as his last at Heinz Field.

"You have to treat every game like it could be your last because you never know when it is," Roethlisberger said, pointing to injured linebacker Ryan Shazier's circled No. 50 on his black T-shirt.

"We saw an example of that, obviously, earlier in the season, with Ryan. You just never know when it could be your last. I'm hoping it's not his last, but you have to go out and play every play, enjoy every play and every game like it could be your last."

Roethlisberger was asked if he thinks this will be the final home game of his 14-year NFL career, given that the Steelers could have to travel for the AFC championship game if they advance and the top-seeded New England Patriots* beat the Tennessee Titans.

"I'm not thinking about that right now. I don't think it is my last but I'm not thinking about that right now. I'm going out to play this one and give it everything I have."

My bet is that Haley is gone next year, and Ben returns.

I almost wish he said it would be so the rest of the team would be motivated to win it all for Shazier and Ben both. Then again I'd love to see him ride off after back to back SB wins.

That shit won't work with Big Ben. He isn't retiring anyways. Common sense says he isnt turning down 20+ mil in his last year. Jerome Bettis, now that was legit.

Maybe it needs to. He's playing like a rookie today. Has given them 14 points.

I wish Norv Turner had held out a little. He would have been perfect for this team.

Ben announced in his post game conference he looks forward to playing with the O line next year. Take it for what it is worth.

5 TDS and 500yards Ben made a game out of it the defense folded like a cheap chair all day long...

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger left little room for doubt regarding his intentions to return for a 15th season in 2018.

Roethlisberger's postgame assertion that he'll be back isn't just relief for the Steelers and their fans -- it's an assist for the front office.

"I definitely have a desire to play football. I love this game. I love these guys. It's tough, it stings, you hate to lose at home. I feel bad because I feel like I let the fans down, let my teammates down, Roethlisberger said following the Steelers loss to the Jaguars in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. "I don't know about contracts and whose coming back but I know the guys up front are, and that makes it good for me, so I look forward to next year with those guys."

I still believe what I said in the first post of this thread ... Ben returns and Haley is gone. Hopefully Haley takes Butler with him.

Yeah as really hate that for him and the team. He may have one good year left in him!

isn't 2017 the last year on Haley's contract? I also think this was his last year with the Steelers. bring in someone smart and young how can work together with Ben.
