Steelers Acquire Seahawks TE Vannett

Breaking news from my ESPN app. Steelers acquire TE Nick Vannett for a 2020 5th rounder.

Does Colbert still have a say, or is Art completely running the show now? We're seeing a number of moves the Steelers generally don't make. They seem to be going all in on a season most everyone else thinks is already lost.

I said we needed to go after a TE but I was thinking next draft.You don't go into "win now" mentally after you lose your first 3 games.I don't understand. I'm like you Wally wondering who is inking these deals.

Good point. And if that's the case, a good owner wouldn't allow the future to be sacrificed in that way. I don't recall Dan ever sacrificing the future to win now. That's what kept the Steelers consistently good for so long.

you need a TE for a young QB and IMHO this move shows me Ben won"t be on the team next season.

Tomlin missing on way too many #1 and #2 draft picks is what os killing this team right now. The Steelers did almost everything team building wise through the draft and keeping their own. Tomlin has been pretty bad with his choices over his tenure and it has cost this team mightily.

Apparently Vance and Grimble are both hurt, which makes the trade make more sense. Hopefully Vannett ends up being worth it.

Vannett did a lot of pulling and blocking for the Buckeyes running game and he's pretty good at catching the football.

Steelers posted an interview with Vannett on their Facebook page today. He mentioned that he worked out with Mason for 2-3 months over the off season. I'm guessing that it played a lot into them going for Vannett after the injuries to McDonald and Grimble.

I saw that and thought the same thing. I can see Tomlin walking around the locker room yelling anybody know any TEs?

Buckeye fans like Vannett. I'm hoping for the best.
