DLine is an area where we need some depth this draft is really deep with a lot of quality. I hope they snag a big NT in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Our D does a hell of a lot better when we have a run stuffer in on 1st and 2nd downs that demands double teaming. I really think it will also help our ILBs stay clean and be able to react faster filling gaps.
Sign Montravius Adam's to a decent 2 year deal and draft a DLineman. With Alualu and Tuitt coming back we have some quality backups ready to take over when Alualu and Heyward call it a day.

Its really a good reason NOT to draft a QB this draft. O line and D line and you set yourself up for long-term success.

I'd go as far as saying that if Davis is there we seriously consider pulling the trigger. He is going to be a beast.

I wouldn't argue against that pick he looks like he is a game changer. Him between Heyward and Tuiit would be just nasty.

I was against picking him before because it was believed he would be a 2-down player. After the combine, and him dropping about 20 lbs, I'm not convinced that's the case.
So yeah - I'd be on board with that. Especially if we sign the free agent center from Tampa before the draft. If we do that, I'll feel a whole lot better (thanks Tom Petty) about our O-line. I'd like to pick up one more good O-lineman too.
My 'sneak pick' is Ridder in the 2nd - IF we address those other positions first. He finished 2nd in the combine in QB athleticism behind EJ Perry (Perry may be a really good pick if he's available too).

Wilson and Rodgers both off the Steelers talking heads wish lists today thank the football gods.
Now they will be spinning tales of Garropolo (another mistake in my book).
Trubisky, Love, Mariota or a 3rd or 4th round QB pick to match up and compete with Rudolph and Haskins. Let them battle it out in camp.

Don't be surprised if they trade up to pick Malik Willis. I know..."whatchu talkin' bout'?

I wouldn't mind Willis at all, but I don't want to trade up to get him. We need to restock in many places, so giving up picks to get him would hinder that. I would be 100% ok with picking him if he fell into our lap, but we REALLY need O Line help. If we addressed some of those positions in FA, which would be very un-Steeler like, then I would feel a bit better about trading up for him.

Ridder brings the same skill set and abilities and can be selected in the 2nd or 3rd round. He was impressive at the combine.
Willis would be a mistake in the 1st round trading up would be a major mistake on the FOs part. This QB draft class is just not that impressive.

Much rather go for Allen then Jensen if they go FA for Center. Allen did a really nice job this year for the Rams and he is 26 as opposed to 31. Offer him a 2 year 12 million dollar contract with 4 million guaranteed with incentives for an extra million per year with a caveat that if he does really well year 1 a new much better contract will be waiting for restructuring in year 2.
We need a proven commodity at Oline in the middle. I like Linderbaum as a draft pick but would much rather have a still young proven starter at center..

Very good assessment on Centers. I don't know much about the ones available (but I know we need one). I'd love to have Linderbaum but getting one through free agency frees up an early pick for us and I like that plan.

How about Mason Cole from the Vikings?
Yeah, I got an alert on Score Mobile that we are signing him. I don't know much about him, but it seems that he is a Center and Guard as well. I guess we have to see if they are going to use him or Green at Center.

They just made a huge mistake resigning Okorafor to a 3 year deal... not real impressed with the Cole signing either... seems mediocre at best...
Okorafor wasn't good at run blocking and his pass defense wasn't much better... hard to be enthusiastic about these two signings....

Cole is the 13th ranked Center. Certainly an improvement.

Apparently they are looking to trade for Fletcher Cox as well

I would have been ecstatic for that kind of trade 3 years ago... now... not so much.

They signed James Daniels to beef up the O line as well. I see JC Tretter got released, im wondering if they'd pick him up too and keep Cole at guard instead of center

The Daniels signing was a great addition. They got immediately better on the interior by signing him. With Cole at Center they should be able to get a good running game going between the tackles now.
They also signed Montravius Adams to a 2 year 5mill deal which is an excellent signing for the price. Putting him between Heyward and Tuiit should pay some good dividends.

Feeling better about Cole after reading a few analysis articles on him and watching some tape. He isn't a top tier Center but next to Daniels he might have a really solid impact for the line with his versatility.

Zierlein's mock draft has the Steelers trading UP with the Chargers - and drafting Kenny Pickett in Round One. And then - the Chargers taking Jordan Davis with the pick they got from the Steelers.
For what mock drafts are worth.

I don't know if they go IDL in the 1st Round with Alualu coming back, and they just re-signed Montravious Adams. With these FA signings, and the re-signings they've done it's really hard to say what they'll do in the 1st Round. Maybe a guy like Trevor Penning if he's still on the board. Get a big versatile and nasty OT. I know they re-signed Chuks but I've never really been that high on the guy, and the jury is still out on Dan Moore. Dan Moore really needs to improve in his sophomore season for me to believe he's the answer at LT. I honestly think Penning could come in and compete for the starting spot at either LT or RT. This offensive line has to be better than last season, just imagine how much more effective our defense could be if they weren't on the field for entire games.
Would really like to see them pick up a WR in the earlier rounds though. Someone like David Bell out of Purdue, or Skyy Moore from Western Michigan. I don't think Juju is going to stay in Pittsburgh, so I think we need to draft a guy and Bell and Moore are versatile guys with the same kinds of tools that Juju has.

I expect they will try to trade up for a QB. They have addressed the OL, resigned Adams, added a CB and Trubisky is the ideal stop gap QB behind which a QB can develop. It's a guess of course, but everything is set up to make a move. If they sign a WR (or resign Juju) and resign Edmunds they won't have big holes anymore. Colbert probably want to go out with a bang and find Ben's successor. If I have to guess it's Willis they will be targeting.
