Cam down. These guys played their hearts out and our O is pathetic. All the talk about Pickins and he has one catch. That's on Canada.

That game was just absurd.
Perhaps though, they will start letting Mitch throw the ball over the middle of the field now.

Only in overtime in the last 50 seconds it would seem... I have lost all faith in Canada's ability to call a quality game he is way way way to predictable. He is terrified to utilize his players physical traits and the entire field. The dink and dunk 2 and 3 yard passes on the outside is just more of the same 3 and out garbage like last year...

I need to find something else to do on Sundays. I'm too old for this kind of stress.
My super quick takeaways. 1. The defense was insane for most of the game. They should have fired Butler 3 years ago.
2. The offense was horrendous, but I don't blame Mitch. The play calling looked like it was designed primarily to not get him killed. In that, they succeeded. But they need to improve that line.
3. There were at least 3 times when I knew for sure Cincy was going to win. Kudos to the coaches and players for not blinking, as Tomlin likes to say.

Tired of this offensive ineptitude. It's the same old song and dance as last season. We have QBs that can run and have lively arms... so we throw passes that barely cross the LoS. The o-line is a joke. No push in the running game whatsoever, and if we weren't throwing quick short passes all game then they'd of probably gotten Trubisky killed.
Not at all impressed with Canada and the offense. Maybe instead of picking skill positions like WR in the draft they should of been trying to shore up the o-line.

Last year the consensus about Canada's offense was that it was designed to protect Ben from an atrocious Oline. It's painfully obvious so far that the line has not improved. The big difference is we now have a mobile QB (2 actually) and Canada is still calling the same offense. Why? As bad as the line played Mitch managed to make just enough plays to help us win by THROWING the ball downfield. We are not going to dink and dunk our way to the playoffs. Our defense has us saying Kieth who but if we can't move the ball they will wear down and we will lose games against inferior teams. Sound familiar? We have a competent starting QB with no protection. I'm not a coach but one of the solutions I can think of is to design plays for Mitch to roll out and throw on the run. Spend an entire practice or 2 teaching these JV Olineman to RUN BLOCK. Maybe Najee or Warren can actually slide through a HOLE. Then spend the rest of the week on Pass Protection. Give Mitch 3-4 seconds to set up a throw longer than 5 yards instead of getting driven back EVERY DAMN play. And last but not least. Exhaust all options at LT until you find someone who is not a turn style or a holding machine. Now we could lose TJ for the season or at least an extended period. Does anyone know what the injury is to Cam and how serious it is?

I read Heyward is good to go, along with Demarvin Leal. Spillane has an eye injury, guessing he got poked, at least that's the way it looked in-game.
The talk is that Watt will miss about a month. Nothing official yet but there seems to be optimism that he won't need surgery. So we could hopefully see him back at the end of October. I think we have enough pass rushers to at least hold down the fort until he gets back but there's going to be a few tough games before he comes back, namely the Browns, Bills, Bucs, and Dolphins. I hope he can be back by the Dolphins game but I also don't want them rushing him back either. Let him get healthy, and let's keep our fingers crossed that it's just a pectoral strain when the official word comes out.

It looks like TJ will be out at least 6 weeks. I feel comfortable with Jamir Jones and Malik Reed holding down the fort. I look for the FO to sign a backup so we have 4 dressed.
