I don't know. Dan Moore seemed to improve as the season went on. Question is did he peak? The FO filled needs with FAs at ILB,OL, and Peterson hopefully has some left in the tank. I think they shift priorities to DB and DL. I think this is where we're thin. After saying this if a top LT falls to us we'd be crazy to not grab him.

First Call: Mike Tomlin on board with Mitch Trubisky as backup; NFL considers Thursday Night flex option https://triblive.com/sports/first-call-mike-tomlin-on-board-with-mitch-trubisky-as-backup-nfl-considers-thursday-night-flex-option/
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin spoke at the NFL owners’ meetings. Via ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, Tomlin reiterated the likelihood of having Mitch Trubisky back with the Steelers.
That goal had been previously stated by both team owner Art Rooney II and general manager Omar Khan. Now Tomlin is lending his endorsement to the plan.
There had been some question at the end of the season if the Steelers would keep Trubisky on board as Kenny Pickett’s backup, given that he has a $10.6 million cap hit. But with Pickett only on his rookie contract and backup QB prices steep, cutting Trubisky and signing a different veteran backup of any repute may only save the Steelers $2.5 million to $3 million in the wash.
As for a third QB, Tomlin didn’t appear to put forth any agenda in that regard via Pryor’s tweet. Mason Rudolph remains an unrestricted, unsigned free agent at this point. Barring an unlikely reunion there, the Steelers would have to find two other capable new arms to bring to training camp and get through the preseason if they want to open offseason practices with four QBs as they normally do.
Imho.... keep Trubisky because their the same type of QB, they get along there's good competition between the 2 at practice and meetings, knows the offense like a starting QB should and the Steelers wouldn't really be saving much salary cap to bust up a good room.

If Kenny gets more concussions I think the smart thing to do is go out get another QB with a similar skill set. I really like Hendon Hooker and he should be there in round 4. He is a really good athlete with tremendous upside. He can sit behind Pickett and if Pickett goes down he could easily fill his shoes and may take his spot and never look back.
I like Trubisky but you can get a younger much cheaper option for 4 years picking up Hooker and rolling with him and Pickett. Hooker is no joke he put up tremendous numbers yeah he is coming off an injury but that doesn't mean much to today's athletes and proper rehab.

Keep Trubisky for insurance if a bridge to another young QB in needed, has been here since Canada took over and knows the offensive system as well as anyone on the team can't just let that go.

I'm definitely in the camp of KEEP Trubisky. I like him, he's a good teammate and he's a capable backup. And he knows the system.
I don't care what Rudolph does - but I'm not opposed to bringing him back as a #3 on the cheap. No one around the league is pursuing him - so his only option may be come back as a 3 or his career is over.

PS. I haven't done any work on Hendon Hooker other than hearing some good things about him.
I do wish we had been able to bring back Josh Dobbs but unfortunately he signed back up with Cleveland, even after they did him dirty.

Looks like you and I are in the minority in regard to Dobbs. I think he could be as good of a #2 as Trubiski on a far more friendly contract but that door closed. I just think Trubiski's cap hit is too high.

Signed Safety Keanue Neal former 1st rounder and Pro Bpwler. Here's to hoping he can be an improvement over Edmunds.

What I like about the Keanue Neal signing, he has played free and strong safety as well as hybrid linebacker during his NFL career.
Breiden Fehoko 26yo signing a big short younger then what the Steelers had last season NT maybe he'll be a good rotation NT type of players.

Stock the team with older more experience players short term, draft best player available at each pick trade up and down in a draft round to get the BPA to fit a need. simple?

Could be a good 3rd round pick, just needs better coaching natural talent is there and the Steelers are thin at inside WR.
Most of his catches are tight and he goes after and gets the ball, might be a smaller Pickens type of player for the middle of the field?

Lots of mocks now with Jalen Carter dropping and available at #17. If he is there do we ignore the pending legal issues and rumored character issues and grab him?
I say no personally. It's just not the Steelers way. I don't know if he was just young and dumb and it was a one time deal or not but that round 1 pick is to valuable to gamble with when there are other quality players available.

Red flag for me as well. Rumours are that he's lazy and not really interested in football. Then he got the accident. Then he gained 9 pounds between the combine and his pro day. Apparently a lot of DT needy teams have taken him of their board. That said, I had Pickens taken off my board as well last year (a lot of teams did) and the Steelers still drafted him, so who knows. I'm still not convinced on Pickens long term, I hope I'm wrong. Pickens and Carter both coming from same college who are known for having a lot of players with issues: Pickens, Carter, Adam Anderson, Devonte Wyatt and also LT Broderick Jones according to some team sources. Broderick Jones might be in play as well for us at 17.

That's really dumb, on top of all his other issues, he's got to be arrogant as well. What if someone outside the top 10 was looking to trade up for him?
I hope to hell we don't draft him if he's available. Let him fall to the third round for all I care. He can be someone else's headache.

I say no. He'd be AB on defense. His legal issue is a misdemeanor. Now his character issues are another question:

Funny coincidence (or not), Carter's agent is Drew Rosenhaus who was also AB's agent until 2020.

I stay not far from Athens Ga. watch a lot of Bulldogs games he's good talent don't think he's good for a rotation more of a big head less of a team player.
