2023 FA and Draft

I am enjoying the Steelers moves in FA this year far more then I can say I have in a long long while. They are actively moving and picking up players for spots and should be much better in certain areas and it is going to help them focus with those first 5 draft picks.

If they can hit on 4 out of the 5 picks that will really set this team up for success for a long while to come. That Claypool pick can really help us get passed some previous swings and misses the last few years.

I am liking what Khan and Weidle are doing so far for sure.

Pierre retained. Decent backup on the cheap. He has flashes of real quality play then does something stupid and has mental lapses. Over all its a smart decision he is comfortable within the system. Hopefully he pushes the room to elevate everyone's game.

The 2022 Steelers who remain on the unrestricted free agent market are safety Terrell Edmunds, No. 2 tight end Zach Gentry, fullback/special-teamer Derek Watt and receiver/special-teamer Miles Boykin.

Would be great if the Steelers could fit Gentry and Boykin in under the salary cap.

I honestly would like them to go get all 4 of them back.

Edmunds gets better every year and has been a workhorse. No major injuries always available.

Gentry is big and a good target for Pickett and an excellent blocker.

Watt knows the system and has been solid at ST and on the field.

Boykin is a great ST and solid 4th option at WR and he is big. I want to see  Canada start using the recievers height to their advantage.

Connor Heyward has already passed Watt for the starting FB/TE, think the Steelers are just waiting on Edmunds to see his value also Watt imho, like both players but Gentry and Boykin are my top 2 out of the 4.

Would have been nice to keep him, but its the nature of the beast. FO puts a value on a guy, if he signs for more than that value, you gotta let him go. Its a tough business at times.

Means that safety is now a high priority in the draft as well, not something we can afford right now.

Can get a good one in round 3 or 4 let them sit for a year behind Kazee and learn. If Kazee goes down then they can get some reps. Safety is one of those groups that there is a lot of depth and versatility you can find a lot of quality producers if you know what you're looking for.

This is why I'm glad he's gone liked the guy but he was a need reach 1st round pick between him and Bush not turning out as on the field 1st round talent set the Steelers back a bit. Now the Steelers seem to be picking up some steam a poor start to last season but finished a lot stronger as a team, like the free agent pick ups we'll see come draft time the Draft seems like a good draft for Steelers needs.

Gentry started 13 of 17 games and played 50% of the Steelers’ offensive snaps, often in a blocking role.

Like this signing Gentry put the time in and became a solid #2 TE could say the best #2 TE in the league imho, catches the ball as well as he blocks or is it he blocks as well as he catches the ball

I'm like all the attention being given to the o-line should be a really strong unit this season.

Think Connor Hayward is going to be a really good TE/FB type of player, like the counter runs, sticks his nose in it when run blocking and he has a really good pair of hands.

I'm really liking the signings. Line looks definitely bolstered. With a top line left tackle, this offense can be really dominant.

Looks like the signing of Le'Raven Clark is a up grade signing to losing Trent Scott, yea if you were a back up swing tackle on the Steelers last year and couldn't beat out Chukwuma Okorafor or Dan Moore Jr. for starting offensive starting snaps? Yea you were bad.

With our 3 TE's and our WRs giving Pickett the option to audible out or do a PA this team could put up a lot of points... now if only Canada can dial up the plays. The talent level on the Offense is solid. They just need to put up TDs instead of FGs...

Would be great if one of the top tier OTs fall to the Steelers at 17th pick I think Moore Jr. could be a good RT.

I'd actually prefer to trade up to get one of them, if it looks like all three will be gone.

Would trade back in a heart beat for an extra 3rd and 4th rounder. That could set this team up proper of they hit on the picks. Those are the kind of trades that set teams up to become contenders quick like.

For me, I'd rather get that sure thing at left tackle. Much better chance of doing that if we trade up (or - stay put if one of them is still there. But make sure and get one)

I understand where you're coming from in loading up on picks though. But I want that monster left tackle and I think that really sets us up for success, and this year.
