We talked about Warren a lot on this game thread and had been discussing PFF grades of late. I hope this isn't too much to post from the Post Gazette article, but thought it gave a good statistical comparison between the Steelers top two backs.
Quote :
Jaylen Warren (91.1) – A few weeks back, this space noted that there wasn’t a ton of analytical separation between Warren and counterpart Najee Harris. That has changed. Warren’s performance last Thursday against Tennessee was the best by a Steelers running back this season by grade. He’s posted three grades above the 70 mark in his past four games. And his overall grade stands at 70.4. Harris, by contrast, is at 63.4. Digging further into the stats, it becomes even more clear which back has been more elusive of late. Since Week 5, Warren has been averaging 3.55 yards per carry after contact compared to Harris’ mark of 2.31. Warren has forced 11 missed tackles on 31 attempts, while Harris has forced seven on 51. Warren has seven rushes of 10 or more yards, while Harris has three. And Warren has averaged 5.7 yards per carry overall, while Harris has averaged 3.4. For these reasons, it’s understandable why Warren’s workload has grown over the course of the season. The question now is to what degree the Steelers are willing to let him eat into the touches of Harris, the man they invested their first-round pick in three years ago.

yeah that confirms what my eyes sees. warren doesn't get dropped at the line near as often as najee. consider najees size its amazing how often he gets stone walled. 240lbs with a running start should always be fallling forward. i would be happy if najee was a consistent 3 yards and a cloud of dust like bettis , but to often it is 0 or 1 yard and no dust. in a short yardage situation i would go with warren every time.
noway should they pick up his 5th year option. its bad enough he will be a 4.1 million cap hit next year.

As much as I like Najee and think he's a great dude, yeah - he's not getting a second contract.
