it appears the Donco's are going to cut wilson come March. they have announced he will be benched for the rest of the season. apparently the donkey's wanted to eliminate the injury clause in his contract which would make it so they couldnt cut him if he got injured. Wilson told em to fuck off , so they benched him to avoid injury.
according to spotrac the dead cap for 2024 is 85 MILLION !!!
my understanding of these contracts is when you cut a player that is owed guaranteed money , you absorb that entire cap hit all at once. how in the hell could they pay 85 million of their 2024 cap to a single player who isnt even on the team and have enough left over to pay the rest of the team and stay under the cap ?
85 million is going to be roughly 30-35 % of the cap for 2024. plus they have 9 other players with cap hits ranging from 13 to 20 million for 2024 which totals another 150+ million. so thats 10 salaries for 235 million. what will the cap be ? 250 million ?

am i missing something here ?

i cant for the life of me understand why the team owners dont demand more incentive based contracts. for some reason they cave in to the NFLPA to their teams and the leagues detriment. the products league wide being put on the field has been total shit.

while he certainly hasnt been as good as he was in the past, he is still far from being the worst QB in the league. he has still played much better than anyone on the steeler roster. what has people so butt hurt about him is the HUGE compensation he is getting for average QB play. wilsons statistically is comparable to justin herbert who also is in the huge contract club. wilsons TD / INT ratio is one of the better in the league at 26/8.  if pickett had 26/8 instead of 6/4 the steelers would probably be on top in the AFC.  
wilson is in the top 5 most sacked QB's this year with 45. that would explain his 205 yds per game avg. he is being forced to check down.

as long as they dont shackle themselves to him with a long contract and if they have a chance to pick him up at a reasonable price, i say go for. is he going to make the team worse ?
