So basically the Steelers have to beat the Ravens next week and either the Bills or Jaguars lose to get into the playoffs...
Those 2 losses to the Cardinals and Patriots***** are coming back to sting.
Masons 2 back to back 30+ points games are enough proof to me he deserves to be the QB next week.
Jags can win or lose but Buffalo has to lose
Not true. These are the scenarios the Steelers will get in:
Steelers can get 7th seed in Week 18 with:
1) PIT win + IND-HOU tie or 2) PIT win + BUF loss or 3) PIT win + JAX loss/tie or 4) PIT tie + IND-HOU do not tie + JAX loss or 5) (even w PIT loss) IND- HOU do not tie + JAX loss + DEN win#Steelers#NFL

I don't know what happened to my post. It was long and somewhat detailed but for whatever reason it didn't post. Anyway, here goes:
First, thank you Stella for posting the playoff picture. Been trying to find it myself but hadn't found it yet.
Second - regardless of what we think of Mason, and whether he's the same Mason or a "revitalised" Mason - he deserves the start. The last two games, the offense has looked great - and he's certainly done his part and has been terrific. Update, it was just announced that he IS starting against the Rats. And Kenny is healthy and able to return. Perhaps a true QB battle next season if both are still on the roster? Although this also could catapult free agent interest for Mason, he could possibly go elsewhere and get paid.
What do you guys think of the OC position? I really like how the O has played with Faulkner/Sullivan running the show (outside of Trubisky starts - No one can fix THAT).
Running backs - Both Backs are crushing it. Smacking down defenders left and right. Now THAT, my friends, is Steeler football! Glad we will have both of them the next couple years anyway.

The RB 1 2 punch of Najee and Warren is working nicely. Najee has been vindicating himself well.
That deep threat passing is making Safeties have to make a choice to either step up.closer to the box and try to stop the run or get beat deep by Masons arm to Pickens or DJ.
If I were the opposition facing Mason, I'd sent a ton of pressure. He's not very fast. That said, if he's ready for it and makes quick reads he can burn them badly.
I feel confident in this game - but honestly I'd feel more confident if they were playing Lamar and all their starters. For whatever reason, we get up for Baltimore and play them hard. I worry that we will let down because some of their starters aren't playing.
Hey, just be glad we aren't facing Carolina this week. Now THAT would be a nightmare!

We need to be able to run the ball effectively against the Rats. They will definitely throw some stuff at Mason. He needs to make them pay early by getting the ball off quick. On D we have to stop the run and put pressure on Jackson. We can't let him brake off long runs and still keep his completion % down. That means our patchwork secondary has to rise to the occasion. If MR leads us to a victory on Sat. regardless of whether we make the playoffs I think he should be given every opportunity to compete for QB1 next year.
after rewatching this game i would like to point out the EFFORT difference given by every player. from the pickens block on the warren TD to the TE's pushing and pulling nagee into the end zone. the guys came to play. the long pass and diving catch by pickens. that never happens with kenny or mitch. they would have abandoned that pocket 2 seconds before mason threw that ball. how mason got that pass off with that much accuracy is truly astonishing.
shout out to devin bush for staying true to form. his timid style of play was a big help in getting those 200 ground yards. go back and watch what he does on that warren TD run. instead of moving towards warren as he makes his way threw the line traffic, bush just stands there 5 yds off the line and waits for a blocker to take him out of the play. if bush comes up and fills the hole its a 2-3 yd gain. nobody is ever going to accuse him of being a thumper ,aggressive or a downhill LB. how he is on an NFL roster let alone starting is beyond me. in my decades of watching football i can say without a doubt he is the worst LB i have ever seen play.

Yeah Bush looked like his old self. I think he plays scared hoping he doesn't get hurt. Other than pop warner I didn't play anything but pickup ball. The last thing on my mind was getting hurt (blew out my left knee and separated my left shoulder). I was too busy having fun playing. If I had ever been good enough to not only make it but start in the NFL love of the game would have been a factor. I never understood Bush and MoP I think you just explained it pretty well.
